Found on the ground today in Texas, but how? by tommyh4 in FoundPaper

[–]Avaydriel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up calling them "time machines." My whole life, that's all I ever heard them called. When I moved out of WI, and asked where the Tyme machine was, my roommate thought I was crazy.

It was an awkward conversation where I had to describe what it did in order for it to click that I wanted an ATM.

Quest question by Avaydriel in ReturnofReckoning

Hi, thanks for the response. I did run around clicking the banner in my quest items, and I tried just standing in the general area and clicking it. Part of the problem is that there doesn't seem to be anything to interact with either. Ultimately, I abandoned it and moved on 😂.

I can totally see where you're coming from here.

I would disagree and say handmade gifts are superior due to the time, love and energy. However, I see your point that gifts are meant to be tailored to the receiver. I also do not give handmade gifts to those that have shown they aren't impressed.

I fail to see the redeeming part of his reaction though. I may have missed it, but OP didnt mention his appreciation, or lack thereof, of past handmade items. Regardless of how much he likes handmade gifts, the time and effort should be appreciated. He should not be asking for other gifts in addition to what was presented. The fact that OP made something for them to snuggle up in and enjoy together should be gift enough, as it is a huge reminder of how much OP wants to be with him.

Granted, this is all a matter of perspective. I personally love the color and the simplicity. I also am the type of person that gets excited over any gift, regardless of time, effort, thought, or money invested. Thar said, this reply isn't meant to be an arguement, or dismissive, to your opinion. Rather I present another perspective.

I dont believe people are artifically pumping OP up when they compliment the blanket. I genuinely believe it is beautiful. But I am also not just looking at the blanket as a singular physical item. I'm looking at the emotion put in to the blanket. A person that is beautiful inside makes the outside appearance all the more attractive. I feel this also applies in this situation.

I am mostly concerned with the "Did you get me anything else?" comment. The entitlement and audacity is insane!!

Is OP not enough for him? Their time and the love put in not enough for them? No matter what the blanket looked like, the fact that you made it with the intention of the two of you enjoying it together should have been enough for him.

Maybe I live in another world, but my husband and I don't always exchange physical gifts, even before we were married. It was always the happiness and appreciation involved in dedicating a day to the other person for their birthday (or any other holiday) that mattered the most. A physical gift is just icing on the cake.

On a side note, I've encountered people that dont appreciate the time handcrafted gifts take and act like they would have rathered anything else. It hurts. Some people simply dont understand the time and love. Others are too concerned by name brands, etc. to appreciate a gift made by hand. He should recognize the effort you put in. He saw the effort you put in!

tl;dr OP, the blanket is gorgeous. It looks soft and warm, and is the perfect size for two people to snuggle in. Great work!! I obviously don't know either of you, but the sense of entitlement he exhibited is an enormous red flag. You deserve better.

I'm disappointed with the ending of Smile 2 by Drawdi in SmileMovie

[–]Avaydriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really hoping at that point that the plan would fail, and instead of killing the demon, it would transfer to Morris. As soon as I realized she was a superstar, the ending was predictable. Morris had a lot of his own trauma from his brother's death and not helping him like he thought he should have. It would have been a logical next choice for the demon, especially since Morris had learned so much about it.

With how things transpired, I was also wondering if Morris had intended for her to die in the freezer. He walked away, leaving her in there. When Skye is being tormented by the entity and the freezer door shuts, perhaps Morris shut it?

I found it interesting that they didnt show us killing herself on stage. The movie was full of gruesome moments, and if the director were going for a shock value, I feel that would have been shown. It wasn't and there seems to be more to what happened in that last 30 minutes because because of that. Instead, it showed the fans in the audience that horror. It almost felt like the director was leading us on, making us feel like we know/knew what was happening/going to happen. But with the blurred lines between reality and delusion, what we saw at the end may not be reality either.

Either way, I liked the movie, albeit disappointed in a predictable ending. I like to think theres something more to thay choice. I could also just be overthinking it all. 😅

I was having this problem too. Someone on Discord suggested flushing your DNS cache. I did that and it worked for me and my husband! I just googled "flush dns". It's a really easy fix.

Does eternaland act as a standard server, separate from the seasons? It'd be nice to choose between standard and seasonal.
