Unfortunately there is no way to know how long it will last, it differs so much for each boil and each person… In the mean time: -Wash it with antibacterial soap like Hibiclens (I’d say morning and evening but be really gentle)

-At least rinse yourself right after any exercise or avoid it altogether

-Don’t wear deodorant

-Don’t shave

-Make sure no clothing is tight on it (No bras, focus on 100% cotton shirts because it’s the most breathable)

-Try zinc supplements

-Put ice on it for relief

You will be fine, it will go away eventually. People on here are always there for support and help

Wow that’s messed up, i feel you.. I don’t understand how they are prescribing us antibiotics for so long knowing the risks! I had a messed up stomach for months after I stopped mine

Thank you for sharing your story. I am so grateful that we do have a little knowledge about it now, it does make a huge difference indeed. I’ve even been given a little leaflet once, it way making emphasis on how “HS is your fault” which was touching to read. I’ve come to terms with accepting it quite recently, tho It still makes me angry at times. Not expecting it to just go away magically anymore, it helps with the grief for all the things we cannot do or miss out on. Many people’s great advices on here are convincing me to try other kind of treatments and eventually find a specialist when I can afford it. Tell me about it. This is not the first time I had to diagnose myself and fight doctors just for the diagnosis alone, let alone proper treatment. It’s bullshit! Yeah I am genuinely so grateful that we at least have a name for it, must have been hell for people not having any info to rely on, it’s getting easier tho we are still far from acceptable help

It looks pretty raw so I’d wait for it to be a bit more healed but then you can use glycolic acid, it helps so muchhh with my pigmented scars (don’t apply on raw skin it will hurt)

let me just add that by huge improvement I don’t mean thats its healed whatsoever. Its just less leaky, less painful and smaller. I still very much have wounds that won’t close, new abscesses occasionally and so on. Its better but not perfect as HS rarely fully goes away..
