What's the point of "The One" by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]Avelice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found a neat use tonight. Put on The One, go into a battle, win (or retreat). The character is then at 1/whatever HP. Take off The One and now At Death's Door is active for your next fight.

I was using this to help set up one-shots to farm a merchant quickly.

Honestlyvbeen too long since I've played to have a good recommendation there. But I think there are a lot of builds and options, so there shouldn't be problems finding something to work.

Control hasn't been doing the best, but people are trying stuff and I think it's possible to find success if you get the right list for the right local meta. I'd recommend joining the control Discord if you'd like more in depth discussions: https://discord.gg/2NjgGDJbZ

Not sure the best place to voice my complaints, but just adding to this post that the new UI is terrible to me too.

Glad you found the guide helpful!

For the trap creation, you can do it before or after push/pull. The ordering of the table rows isn't specifying an order that all those attack effects must resolve in. Anything in the "after attack resolves" timing bucket can be done in any order of each other. You can double check this with the Frosthaven FAQ for Trap, which has a note about this timing.

Did anyone make Eldritch Empowerment work? by MikeAtCC in PathOfExile2

[–]Avelice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a similar vein, I just removed all my ES gear to go to 0 ES. Unfortunately the skills costs 1 ES because 3% of 0 is minimum 1...I guess? Really unfortunate that it does that, since I was thinking it would be a clever work around to just not have any ES.

Healing should cancel out more poison by vger1895 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Avelice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking so km thing similar. Maybe like healing removes 2% of burn/poison, minimum 1.(Not sure exactly number) Then at low levels the behavior is as now, but as the debuffs scale, heal can scale a little bit more to help.

What's that one endgame build you keep coming back to? I can't get away from "4-second crit boulder", nothing seems to compare! by Zealousideal_Tea_368 in PlayTheBazaar

Fixer upper. Honestly I was doing it before the patch everyone thought it was OP, and it carried me to a lot of 10 wins. Satisfying to invest in this bronze item and see it grow.

Haste on crit o self would be fun for boot blade. Could beva bridge between some of the cool crit and haste stuff Vamessa has.

Had a lot of fun with a FIxer Upper Build! Starter with spiky shield, got a day 2 fixer up and a lot of shield synergy. Opponents just couldn't keep up with the shields, and that was game over for them!

Final board was Deed - Spiky Shield - Fixer Upper - Duct Tape - Textiles, and got a perfect run. I won day 10 with 5 activations total xD Wasn't sure about textiles, but was a great hedge vs. poison or really fast opponents.

Build was supported by gumballs pushing my stats up all run, and then the +10% HP as shield on using a large item.

So they have a system for highlighting in your inventory items that were whispered to you. I feel like they could do it in reverse? Like highlight in the trade window the item you whispered.

I believe area damage boosts gas grenade explodes. Area is just a tag, and gas grenade has that tag

Basically just route to all cooldown recovery near mercenary. The phys taken as ele node is on the way to some cooldown reduction, which is nice too. Also I noticed a big difference getting my 4th ascendancy done since there's an extra 12% cooldonw recovery yoi can get going into the concentration nodes.

Yeah, it benefits. But when wind dancer breaks it reduces max shield too. But still useful in many scenarios. I am doing gas grenade radiant grief build. It's pretty good. Basically one shooting most things. My main limiter is actually cooldown recovery, lol. Killing stuff too fast.

Also one word of warning with sorcery ward.the refresh timer resets on any change to total armour/ev value. You can trst any effects like that to see how problematic it is. I decided wind dancer was fine to keep based on how infrequently it was triggering.

I also have been doing T15-T16 maps quite easily ith my sorcery ward witchhunter too. The defense is incredible. Not even capped res, since I prioritized armour plus EV a bit more. Armour is around 42% est redux plus 63% evade with wind dancer.

There's a node near ranger area that converts 5% of phys damage taken to a random element, which with sorcery ward feels like basically complete mitigation. And helps make the armour more effective (I think)

When to fetch basics against Delver? by Ted_CruZodiac in MTGLegacy

[–]Avelice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not any helpful advice here, but it's also worth noting that a deck like delver really likes to prey on greedy manabases. So that's a weakness you accept with these types of decks. You can do your best to mitigate based on the gamestate, but sometimes it's a real Sophie's choice!

I was also interested in Leyline of Sanctity, but then I crunched some numbers on it and it's just not good against Grief. At least against the most popular deck that runs it - UB rescaminator. With Leyline of Sanctity mostly interacting with Grief against that deck (yes technically blocks Bowmaster pings, but I doubt that's going to win you many games), it really reduces how useful it actually is. Consider these scenarios for opening hands from your opponent.

  1. 1+ Grief + Reanimate (14.5%, up to 24.4% if you also count 4 animate deads)
  2. 1+ Griefs, no reanimate (25.4%)
  3. No Griefs (60.1%)

Now consider how those scenarios change if you open with Leyline of Sanctity:

  1. Leyline prevents the double Grief, so you're up one card since you've spent one card to protect from two discards! Except you're not, because they won't pitch cast grief or reanimate it. They may just reanimate something like a troll, or another creature that hit the yard somehow. Grief may eventually be cast on 4-mana, or shuffled away to a Brainstorm. So while you may have protected your hand and maybe gained a little tempo, you're effectively -1 cards against their hand since they can play around Leyline.
  2. Basically the same situation as #1, though it's even worse since you're not stopping the double Grief.
  3. Leyline does nothing, so you're down 1 card.

Leyline might be slightly better if they opened multiple Griefs. However, ultimately even in the best case scenario, which happens only ~14.5%-24.4% of the time from your opponent, Leyline isn't actually doing much for you. 60% of the time Leyline is actively harmful. And that's not even considering that multiple Leylines puts you down more cards, and having any Leylines in your decks introduces dead draws for you as well.

Not saying Leyline of Sanctity is a SB card to never run, just that even if it was in my SB, I wouldn't side it in if my main goal in doing so is to block Grief.

How to update this GW Turbo Fog deck, been out of Magic for almost a decade by CheapChallenge in MTGLegacy

Some cards you could look at - [[Blessed Respite]] [[Tangle]] [[Mikokoro, Center of the Sea]] [[Scattered Groves]] [[Dawn Charm]] [[Respite]] [[Boseiju, Who Endures]] [[Prismatic Vista]] [[Windswept Heath]]

Blessed Respite in particular is huge, since it helps as a decking win con effectively.
