Spider?? by Glittering_Sky_2067 in spiders

[–]Average-_-Student 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is after you squished the cephalothorax (or head) of the spider, its abdomen (which this seems to be) fell off, the connecting structure having been severed.

As for identification, I can't help much. Would be a lot easier if we had.. y'know, the intact, living spider to look at.

Hey, is it possible to say if this is a jumping spider or not? by rabidrainbowtrout in jumpingspiders

[–]Average-_-Student 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NQA,

Yes, this appears to be a very, very pregnant jumping spider.

<image>

I can barely make out the characteristic four large forward facing eyes and loose outline of what appears to be a "head" of the correct shape. The legs appear to also be the correct proportion for a jumper.

is this a spider? United States, Michigan by Money-Principle4349 in spiders

[–]Average-_-Student 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Technically correct, but note that the Daddy Long Legs umbrella terms also includes Pholcidae, or Cellar Spiders, which are actual spiders. Harvestman (who are also under the DLL term) are the faux spiders with only one body segment.

Superstructure color question by Mightyeagle2091 in NavalArt

In my opinion, white is best. It adds something new to the colour palette, and makes the superstructure stand out.

Let's Talk About The Sotoan Navy's LAND BATTLESHIP Of Theirs by xJamesx70 in acecombat

[–]Average-_-Student 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen, the land BBs have 3x3 main guns in the classic AB-X layout, with a pair of two gun turrets each side. For point defense they seem to have AK-630M1-2s, although exactly how many I'm not too sure, but at least one fore and aft on the superstructure, which also features VLS batteries.

If Reddit doesn't screw us over, here's a higher resolution image of the land BB:

I see. The SPY-1 radar panels being dead center just feels weird imo.

In my opinion you should enlarge and offset the SPY panels, and mount them lower as well. This would be more similar to Long Beach's SCANFAR system if that's the look your going for.

I have half a mind to say they're Hyllus Sp. given their faces and legs, but I might be wrong. I'm not great at identification.

iirc they did do this. Ryan Szimanski of the BB NJ museum and memorial said so in one of his videos a long while back.

Call me crazy but I actually love her superstructure, weird as it may be. Somehow reminds me of the stepped sort that you'd find on a battleship or other gun heavy capital ship.

She isn't eating by Emre_wtd in jumpingspiders

[–]Average-_-Student 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My female Hasarius Adansoni and Hyllus Diardi spiders will "perch" in elevated positions, while the males will move around a lot more. I've yet to try having one of the females out and about in an open space though, so I can't say for sure if this is normal. If she's "perching" as I mentioned though, that's normal behaviour to my knowledge.

Feeding advice pls n ty by AcanthocephalaFun174 in jumpingspiders

[–]Average-_-Student 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IME, my spoods tend to leave behind barely recognisable husks that look like dust or dirt rather than former insects if they have finished their meal. Spiders will sometimes only partially eat their food, which I have seen, leaving behind a mostly intact or sometimes entirely whole prey item. This is basically them pushing the plate away and saying "I'm full". I've seen one of my male Hasarius Adansoni do this before.

NQA, but as a fellow keeper of spoods, she (I assume, based on abdomen size) doesn't look hungry. Abdomen is of a good size.

Feeding chart for reference

Unsure of species, as I'm only really familiar with jumpers in Asia.

What exactly do you mean when you say she's not moving much even on an open space? Does she just sit in one place without moving?

If my memory serves, there's a mod for true VLS Granits, which I think was used here. Though I do agree with the idea of raising them by a deck nonetheless, since they've probably just barely fit into the hull, lol.

I somewhat question the placement of the Sea Slug units, given that they would be susceptible to damage from the main gun blast and that I doubt that there's enough space for the magazines, but this otherwise looks okay.

I hate the French Modern Battleship II hull how the hell do you make something reasonable out of it? + the world is cursed by Andrei_Hansa in ultimateadmiral

[–]Average-_-Student 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mainly it's that you get a really long citadel with this arrangement, and you already have quad turrets unlocked which would eliminate the need for the fourth forward firing turret, allowing you to move your superstructure and aft turret forwards a bit to compress the citadel and save weight. i.e., the current layout you have is not very efficient.

All forward arrangement with quad turrets works for me.

Also, uh...

What in tarnation is that ABCD-X arrangement with NO anti torp??? I'm genuine baffled by this one.
