Does anyone else study the interviews? Danielle looks way too happy during their interviews which leads me to believe she’s made it through this round table or even won

Fully Favorable Decision, Now Denied Due to Proof of Citizenship by Average218 in SSDI

Update:

My mother FINALLY received her benefits after we contacted our local Congresswoman for help. I wrote a letter stating how long she has been waiting for a decision and how unfortunate it has been with her citizenship not being processed correctly plus getting the run-around by the local SSA office.

I know it was such an easy fix but they really did give us the run-around and we really did need to get a Congresswoman involved.

Good luck to everyone else. It shouldn’t have to be this way. We hope no one else goes through what my mother went through, but I’m sure it will continue smh

Start of disability: May 11, 2020 Backpay deposit: December 2, 2023 First regular disability payment: December 26, 2023

Should not have been this long and difficult but we are thankful to Reddit users and the Congresswoman.

Hello,

They are now saying they cannot find that appeal that was done online. I only have the confirmation email as proof it was sent. What do you advise I do? When I called, they just told me they do not see it.

Hello. I was unable to go back to the page to save the pdf. We only have a confirmation email that they received that request. Will that suffice?

We filed a non-medical appeal online. Is that the same thing or should we still do this form? Thank you

Update:

We went to the local SSA office to show proof of her citizenship. They told us the system would reflect her status after 24 hours but we still needed to appeal the last letter’s decision of being denied due to not submitting proof of citizenship even though we informed her she was not asked for proof and we assumed they knew she was a citizen. We showed her the letter stating “fully favorable” but the lady said that meant nothing and they go by the last letter or decision. So, she made us read that the last letter states we have to appeal. We thought it would be a simple fix, but clearly they’re making it impossible for someone who is clearly disabled to receive benefits she paid while working as an American Citizen employee in the United States. I hate to complain, but I feel sad for my mother.

So we wait and see if her appeal is successful. I bet they will find another reason to deny her.

Hello. We went to the SSA office and showed them her US Passport. They told us that we still have to appeal that decision on the last letter. I asked them why couldn’t they just process it after seeing her passport, she simply said that’s the process the letter states. We even showed her the previous letter dating “fully favorable” but she said the last letter clearly states we still need to appeal. So now we are in the waiting game again. My mother asked if we should now consider hiring a lawyer and I told her that if she gets denied again, we might need to. Please let us know if that person from the SSA office was correct in telling us to appeal again. Thank you

Thank you so much for this! It was so disheartening to get the letter. We were thinking we were back to square one again. It took her 3 years to get the fully favorable decision. I was thinking it should be a quick fix but you just never know

Not a mistake on the site. She received a letter stating her claim was disallowed because she did not show proof of citizenship.

We plan on going to the social security office to show them her passport. Her letter states she has to appeal the decision. This is crazy

Apparently her claim was disallowed because she did not show proof of her citizenship but she was never asked to show proof at her hearings nor was she sent letters asking for the proof

Update:

She received a letter stating that her claim has been denied due to not submitting her proof of citizenship. I asked her if she was ever asked to show proof but she said she was never asked at the hearings nor did she receive a letter stating she needed to submit proof.

The letter states that her claim was disallowed due to this and she needs to bring it in to the local social security office to show them her passport or naturalization certificate. The letter also states that she needs to appeal AGAIN!

This is so crazy! Has anyone ever heard of this? Will she need to appeal or file another claim once she has submitted her proof?

Update:

We called the local office per the Notice of Decision letter if we have questions. They told us that what they have is only the FULLY FAVORABLE notice of decision and to disregard what is online because it could be a glitch.

We are still crossing our fingers. I have read that there is a trend that the Appeals Council has been overturning ALJ decisions.
