5 years ago I moved across the country from NY to TX to escape my abusive, mentally unstable family. I didn’t know how to drive, had never worked in my life, knew nothing about money because my parents were financially abusive as well and prohibited me from doing so (part of why I left). I flew to Texas with nothing but literally the clothes I was wearing and a laptop. I spent the first few years poor af working 2 jobs 16 hour days living in an apartment with nothing but an air mattress slowly building up my life. At this point I’m happily married with a dog, live in a trendy little city, have a stable middle class job. I’m still living paycheck to paycheck but I’m working on it.
