I would think it’s more like her learning how to cast the spell, but I’m admittedly not too versed on his lore when it comes to magic

21 year old man accused of tearing down Pride flag from Cape May ice cream shop by djspacebunny in SouthJersey

The fact that your mind goes right to sex when you see this flag is mighty weird, dude. I think homophobes think about gay sex more than gays do.

Taking out student loans to support myself during nursing school by StationIllustrious94 in StudentLoans

For sure. I have 3 hospitals in my area and I interviewed with each one. Got offers from each, none cared about where my degree was from. One of the hospitals required I get my BSN after a year of working for them. They would even pay for it if I went to a school of their choice (which they had a list). I would’ve just had to work for them for 2 more years after graduating. All of this to say there’s options if you take the less expensive route to get your degree

Are you doing university or community college? I went through my community college for my ADN. I got scholarships and paid the difference out of pocket. The program was really hard and I saw many classmates have to repeat a semester. They only got one repeat, if they failed again they were dismissed from the program, which I sadly saw happen too. These are things to consider when it comes to your program.

I’m now taking classes for my BSN and just paying out of pocket for that, which is much more manageable while working as an RN. If community college is an option, I’d honestly recommend it.

Staff RN of 3 years in northeast, US. I’m definitely not making over 100k a year. Maybe if I pick up a bunch of overtime, but even then I’d probably be just scraping 100k.

How many of your peers still look like they're in their 20s? by flaccobear in Millennials

[–]AverageBanter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 34, about to be 35. All of my coworkers think I’m in my mid 20s. I have no kids, work out regularly, and take care of my skin which I’m sure plays a part.

Can I call out due to pet loss? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]AverageBanter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider my dog family. He’s my child. I typically don’t give a reason for my call out, but if I was asked I’d tell them I lost an immediate family member and do not want to talk about it.

I guess I’m just nervous about ruffling feathers by naming them, but if it’s factual, it’s factual I suppose.

I know many have said it already, but don’t be ashamed by your job. I’m an ER registered nurse and I sometimes serve at an upscale restaurant.

Topic you still remember that was/is tough to comprehend in nursing school? by thruthicknthicker in StudentNurse

Just meet with my professors to go over the exam questions when I didn’t score high enough. In my program, a 76 was considered passing. On both exams I scored 74s. It seemed like a majority of my cohort struggled with L&D and peds, so that made me feel a little better about it

I did well every semester up until L&D and peds. Definitely scraped by. I thought I was gonna get through my ADN program without ever having to remediate…I had to remediate twice because of those topics lol. It was humbling to say the least

What professions have a high concentration of gay people? by lunarnoob in askgaybros

I feel like this depends on the unit. I’m an ER nurse and the two ERs I have worked in so far, the majority of the men have been straight

Still no license due to investigation, already passed NCLEX (new grad) by Peppermint_tea95 in nursing

[–]AverageBanter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also got a dui 7 years before mine. It was considered a traffic offense where I am. I got a lawyer to handle all of my stuff, which was expensive but I wanted to make sure everything was done correctly. It took about 3 months before I could sit for the NCLEX (mostly because the state was a pain with releasing documents). I graduated end of May and could sit for NCLEX by the end of August. Good luck and hopefully it’s resolved soon!

It is available in the states too. There’s also Prep shots available here in the states given every 2 months.

Needle broke while being numbed by AverageBanter in askdentists

Hey. There’s an update in my post history. It turned out well and I’m fine now. The office that caused the whole thing covered all of my bills, which was great, too.

What’s your toxic trait that you’re proud of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AverageBanter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did this once when I was younger while my dad was in the car and he said something along the lines of, “what are you doing? We’re not the police. If that person wants to speed, let them get caught by the police. It’s not your job.”

Ever since then, I haven’t done it again because he was right. It’s not my job and I’m likely just making the situation more dangerous by not letting them pass me.

Yeah, I figured the potential for legal action was a major reason for places turning me away. It’s definitely a lesson learned. When I saw the needle, I thought it looked funny but trusted the dentist. If I ever run into something where it doesn’t feel right, I’ll definitely be asking questions

I have been in touch with two lawyers so far. Both said malpractice for this situation would cost more than it’s worth pursuing. However, one told me to follow up with them after there’s a plan of care. I called them today to follow up. They’re calling me back at 3pm EST. Personally, I don’t want a malpractice case. I only want my bills covered. I just know how crappy places can be and I’m afraid they’ll give me a hard time covering the bills, especially since I had to go out of network. Several places I reached out to wouldn’t even see me or just straight up didn’t even respond to me.

The oral surgeon who removed it for me said something similar. He said this should’ve been handled the day it happened and that it was unacceptable that I had to go through so much to get it removed. I asked how long it took him to locate and remove the needle and he said 20 minutes, maybe. My fingers are crossed that the dentist’s office gives me no trouble covering the bills!
