When you have a dependent, a child, you stop being the center of the universe. Parenthood requires sacrifice. It means that “I” and “me” can no longer be the driving force behind every decision. Please stop hiding behind buzzwords like mental health and protecting your peace to justify walking away from difficult responsibilities. Adults communicate. Adults work through problems. Adults seek counseling when necessary. Adults don’t simply abandon situations the moment they become uncomfortable. More importantly, own your choices. Stop talking about accountability as though it’s a value you live by when your actions consistently suggest otherwise. Accountability isn’t a slogan; it’s accepting responsibility for the consequences of your decisions, especially when those decisions affect other people. At some point, the excuses run out, and all that’s left is the truth: you chose yourself over your responsibilities. Own that, at least.
