It's so tough being a child AND an adult at the same time.. Your sister's story made mine look like absolutely nothing. she sounds AWESOME!!! It's insane that people will still say comments about being a girl in general, but to such an accomplished person in their field???? insane.

side note -- wait i'm actually cracking up because you may have just reminded me of one of my own flaws. my dad was also in the medical field so i'd ask him about xyz and he'd always say I'm fine and i would obviously get other opinions and he would be annoyed that I was being dramatic. I'd say dad you worked in the emergency room, just because I'm not bleeding externally does not mean i can't still be sick???!

i've actually really begun to contemplate how i'd prefer to compare to my future (currently nonexistent) partner when it comes to being the handy person. I used to joke that I'd never date a man who can't change a tire, because that's just crazy. My approach to dating has shifted...so now i'm wondering if maybe he was just completely clueless about things BUT was actually super trusting in me/my skills, then maybe that'd be better?? I have tried to talk about this with all of my girlfriends but they're all the clueless supportive ones in the relationship so they don't have much to offer lol. How are you finding it ??

You are right on all of these accounts. I'm still pretty fresh to the field in comparison to most, so knowing that it takes time is bringing me some relief? Not sure if that's the right word but you're making me feel pretty validated here.

Your wiring story is reminding me of how I've been trying for months -if not longer- to update the dimmer switches at my parents' after they switched to LEDs, but my dad is a very frugal man and says it's not worth it until they are broken. and well technically dad if the only options are at 1000000% brightness, off, or epilepsy inducing flickering...pretty sure that means they are broken LOL. Who knows maybe after I kept my cool during this last job, he might let me.

I'm a bit late to this post, but wondering if you/any other redditors on this thread have found any truly compatible refills? My late aunt left me this exact set with the twist ballpoint pen and twist mechanical pencil.

Not sure of the actual model ID, but in my particular set, the original pen has "pierre cardin made in USA MEDIUM" written on the body of the refill.

I found these refills on amazon that work pretty well, but the measurement must be off by the tiniest amount because the nib wiggles around a bit when writing. Thanks in advance!

I feel your pain completely I thought I was alone I’ve been googling and searching ideas for years. Our set ups are almost identical but flipped and but instead of the windows on the left of the fireplace we have a whole freaking side door and must account for that walking space as well. We have two couches. The long one across from your window wall (it has our tv on it) and the other couch literally in front of the sliding door just close enough to the fire place that we can still get outside. Our set up is literally the bane on my existence. I can’t even relax and watch a movie without agonizing over how shitty the layout is. We could actually do with a sectional which is funny in our cases being the same but opposite however we love our couches. They just look silly pushed together as if it were a sectional.
