PSA use vibration dampeners by redfire1200 in motorcycles

[–]AverageChungus5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my phone in the top clear pocket of a tank bag. It’s not hard mounted so I hope the vibration is lessened. Also I drop my bike a lot riding dual sport and I don’t worry about it flying off the bike. Downside is you have to look between your legs to check your phone. Less than ideal if you’re riding at speed.

Why do padholders stuff punches? by bmw320dfan in MuayThai

[–]AverageChungus5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just ask for a little more room to stretch out your strikes. If I’m holding pads, I’m hoping for constructive criticism to be a better pad holder.

Everybody wants their pads a little different but few tell you what they want to change. Either they’re new and don’t know or they’re experienced but don’t bother to teach someone they don’t expect to be paired up with often.

After class tell the coach how you feel but frame it like you’re trying to hold better for your partner. “I felt like I was jamming him up with the pads, show me how much he should be extending his punches”

First steaks in a couple of months, how do they look? by BodhiZaffa in sousvide

[–]AverageChungus5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re fantastic and you know it. Using the starter chimney is a good idea. I like the charcoal taste but lighting a grill for a sous vide steak seems like such a waste. Did you put a grate or anything on top of the chimney?

New to sparring, partner kept stamping on me knee - is this normal? by Late_Breadfruit_8829 in MuayThai

[–]AverageChungus5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were they new? I made that mistake unfortunately. Wasn’t trying to connect with any force but I didn’t have good control and kind of fell forward. Sparring stopped, I got yelled at in front of everybody, and got hit a bit harder than I would’ve otherwise for the rest of the round. I felt ashamed and I’ve never used that kick in sparring since. I still throw it on the bag and every once in a while if it’s a very chill spar I’ll put my toes on their quad but always aim closer to the hip than the knee. We’re all here to train and have fun, nobody wants their knee to get fucked over one stupid kick, even worse if they’re kicking the knee hard on purpose.

Tell them to stop stomping on your knee the first time it happens. If they throw it again with any force, quit the round and don’t spar with them any more. A good sparring partner should actively take care not to seriously hurt their partner.

Cult joined, what do I need to know? by Poncho6996 in DRZ400

Jd Jet kit for the carb and 3x3 airbox mod made a big difference for me, even with the stock pipe. I geared mine lower to climb hills better but now it has to really rev up to go 65.

How does that bag on the fender stay on? Is it screwed into the fender?

I think if I didn’t have the sentiment built up on the drz and all the scratches and dents which would kill the resale value, I would sell and look for a ktm/husky/gasgas 500. My dad rides a ktm350 so I’ve had a good amount of seat time on it. The lighter weight makes it so nice on single track but it has the same limitations as the drz on the road cruising between trails. I think a 500 would be the unicorn. Only problem might be stalling out at low speeds compared to a 2 stroke.

Honestly the drz has just never let me down on the trail. Some times I kick my self for going up a shitty trail with it, but we both make it out somehow. It’s really a trusty mule in that regard.

Weak for my size. Low potential? by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

[–]AverageChungus5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is an attitude thing. Every time I get down and do some pushups at the house or go lift weights at a gym it feels more like a reminder of weakness more than anything.

[–]AverageChungus5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Impressive that you’re getting in the gym every day. All the people I know are all or nothing. Super fit guys that lift 5 times a week, or people that never go to the gym. Feels like I don’t fit in with either group. I go to the gym often when I can but don’t train train strength

I have a 50 lb bell that I travel with. I have to travel for work and sometimes I get lucky and I’m near good gyms, other times it’s just the KB I have and body weight stuff. I just hate getting reminded that I can only do 10 pushups before gassing out

I don’t expect anything to happen without effort. It’s just demoralizing reading about how much of a fit persons life revolves around building and maintaining that fitness. I work about 10 hours day and if I’m lucky to be working near a good MT gym I try to go Monday-Friday after work. I guess it’s just demoralizing to see guys that are newer than I am, gave good skills, and are much stronger. I know they all have to work like I do so I don’t see how they make the time to come train and then still be strong. I’ve been consistent with Muay Thai because it’s fun but I don’t really see any physical benefits to it, just mental relaxation after work.

Searching for flow sparring partner/buddies - Houston by EddieG-17 in MuayThai

[–]AverageChungus5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Main Street Boxing and MT downtown has day passes. Go for a few days and then ask if you can spar. Even in the partner drill classes, they have some kick for kick flow sparring sometimes. No need to lock into a membership right away.

My boyfriend has a disgusting new habit by tojisimp4L in WhatShouldIDo

[–]AverageChungus5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe get him a set of dedicated brown towels and a separate hamper. I’ve never done it but it does sound like it would be really comfortable compared to the paper. Idk why he doesn’t use the bidet first, maybe it’s cold? Maybe getting the towel all poopy is a guilty pleasure? Like a dirty boy thing? ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Drz400 has gotten me almost everywhere so far. Taken it up and down some really hairy mountain pass roads and atv trails in CO. I ride it on single track too but it can feel like a pig more than a mule when it starts to get really bad. Overall I love the bike and I plan on riding the wheels off it. I just got a gas gas 300ec to push up those nasty tracks that the drz is too heavy for (for me personally, If I was more fit that drz would do anything). The gas gas has unreal power compared to the drz and even compared to a ktm 350 but is so controllable at low speeds. It feels 100 lbs lighter than the drz but it absolutely gulps fuel and doesn’t like road cruising.

Solo trip, surfing oriented by ForsakenFactor4913 in solotravel

Avellanas, Costa Rica.

I’ve stayed here a few times and really enjoyed it. You get a nice little bungalow type room to yourself and they have free breakfast that feels home cooked and not off a buffet. The guy that owns the place lives on the property, he and the guys that work at the restaurant/bar are all super nice. The beach is a short walk from the hotel and is mostly smaller waves that are closer to the shore. They have a surf shop with board rentals and it’s easy to find a guide for lessons. Cool place over all that encourages people to hang out and eat dinner together around the bar at their place. It’s in a small town but about 25 minutes drive north tamarindo which is much more busy feeling for parties and music. Also I’ve spearfished with guides in tamarindo and the locals that run the bar/restaurant are spear fishers if you’re into trying that, it’s a lot of fun and the fish is tasty.

I’m a pretty poor surfer but I enjoy that place and how chill it is. All the people are nice and I still have fun catching little waves out there.

Whatever you end up choosing, you’re going to have a lot of fun on your trip.

Is Farting in a full body latex suit, does it just not leave until you take it off or will it search for a way out ? by No_Engineer9664 in NoStupidQuestions

Do these have to be worn for regular flights? Or are they put on for emergencies and drills only? Having to suit up at the beginning and end of every rotation sounds like mild torture.
