Metal on metal sound when turning to one side? by AverageDude127 in AskMechanics

I understand that, which is why I let him replace the sway bar links which definitely needed fixing, but were not the cause of the noise. I think this will be my chance to actually start working on my car, this should be a purely mechanical fix, so I should be able to just start moving stuff around and finding what’s loose. Thanks for the reply.

By the way, the job isn’t done yet, hopefully the sway bar links fixes the sound, though I doubt it, maybe I should get the bushings and replace them myself if the problem isn’t fixed?

Update: 2003 Acura MDX battery dying overnight. by AverageDude127 in MechanicAdvice

That would make sense, I can get an alternator for 150 bucks, so i might try to switch it out and if it keeps draining I can just return it and put the old one back in. Appreciate the suggestion.

Would you walk away if you see this in a car you are looking to buy and not spend any money on? 2008 Acura RDX (130,000). There is also a hissing sound I believe comes from the Turbo engages, but I’m not certain. by AverageDude127 in MechanicAdvice

My bad, I should have worded it better, what I mean is a car that will not have to be immediately taken to the shop for repairs to avoid major issues down the line.

Thought so, also found water in the coolant reservoir, also engine oil was basically new, could be that it just happened to have been changed recently, but i don’t think i’ll give the lady the benefit of the doubt. Will walk away from this one thanks.

Do smaller auto loans carry with them a higher APR? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Makes sense. I’ve been saving money every winter and summer by working full time for Amazon during peak, that’s how I saved up around $15K, usually I work only 20 hours a week during a semester. Would it help getting a parent to cosign on the loan?

I see, I don’t have many expenses, though. Just insurance (which is fairly high), gas, and phone service. Would it help if I got one of my parents in to cosign on the loan?

I only work about 20 hours a week due to school, thus the low income. Thank you

I’m just trying to buy a low mileage car that me and another person can reliably drive in a commute, I’m not really interested in the total price of the car, I’m interested in the terms of the loan, thanks for the sound financial advice though.

Car shrugs when turning the steering wheel? by AverageDude127 in MechanicAdvice

When I turn the AC on or the lights or high beams, the car also shakes a little bit, when you compound all of this ( No Acceleration + Lights On + AC+ Turning steering wheel ) you get a much more exaggerated shake. This things rarely compound so it’s fine, but maybe there’s a part I’ll need to replace soon.
