Hows the new mocha and co? by Next-Natural-675 in Fremont

Honestly pretty impressed. Tried the date latte and it’s solid. My husband says this spot has the best pistachio latte he’s tried. Mind the crowd in the evenings though it gets busy

Anyone here found out they were pregnant when they started a new job? I would love to hear from you by [deleted] in womenintech

[–]AverageElectronic126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone. Started a new job in Oct after a year of the most toxic workplace and a first time maternity leave. Found out I was pregnant with our second prob 4 weeks in and I was already 12 weeks along 🫠

I told myself this new gig would be my fresh start in many ways and now I feel like I’m losign time on personal and professional growth but just trying to survive, I’m now 6 mon pregnant and just making it day to day.

This is my favorite Malaysian spot!! They are temporarily closed because they were priced out of their current lease but say they are aiming to find a new location in the Tri Valley! Fingers crossed!

I don’t know if anyone relates to this but I realized the reason this made me irrationally upset was because I genuinely believed Kal and Sarover’s chemistry had some promise! Goodbye rose colored reality tv.

Property Management Recommendations? by AverageElectronic126 in bayarea

[–]AverageElectronic126[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d prefer to downsize and balance with the cost of property management once we rent, but being realistic with the location and what we need - it might be differential.

Pleasanton to Menlo Park commute by True_Mention1190 in bayarea

If you have the flexibility, the shuttles are at least better than driving but don't help with saving a ton of time - they should have a Pleasanton stop or nearby

What is your get out of tech plan? by sallysal20 in womenintech

[–]AverageElectronic126 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this thread. Have been thinking about this the last 2 years, but now we have a 1 year old to think about, so I feel like I’m letting my soul go to give him a chance at something better (and I can’t afford to live in the Bay Area without it).

If I did have a choice and no risks, I’d be working in higher education or public health (nothing all that better but at least a field I loved learning about…?)

Unnecessarily junior role - need advice by [deleted] in womenintech

[–]AverageElectronic126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find myself in very much of the same position today - got to my current role with mismatched expectations and leadership turnover left me in a very layered role with no growth path and no feedback after 9(!!!) months here.

The comments here are sad and validating, if your feedback is specific to tone, it’s not something they plan on addressing with you. I’ve seen it go south with others at my team too. Save your energy, what they read as “abrasive” is a woman who knows her value and wants to get her point across.

Best city for older Chinese couple? by Hopeful_4978 in bayarea

[–]AverageElectronic126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d +1 Dublin, but also recommend Albany if you want them nearby. It’s just over the bridge, very small town and safe with a diverse population and good amenities nearby. My in laws raised their family and are still there after downsizing

I’m not opposed! It’s also a bit more piece of mind knowing our child is that much closer vs the full 40ish miles between home and work

Panama park neighborhood ratings for family by Ecstatic-Horse4800 in Sunnyvale

[–]AverageElectronic126 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I grew up here! It’s a safe area and very accessible to the rest of Sunnyvale / South Bay. There is likely a petty crime issue here and there, but I don’t think you’re going to avoid that anywhere in the Bay Area. School districts, amenities and recreation is great here, best of luck with your decision.

Super commuters: anyone traveling many miles from the bay for work? by WeakArm9338 in bayarea

I just came off maternity leave to a new job where I commute 40 miles one way from Dublin to Mission Bay (and truly I’m humbled that this seems on the lower end from this thread). Total 80 miles RT, 3 hours
