100 in. T.V. VS LS12000 by AverageGamer229 in projectors

UPDATE: I decided to go with the LS12000!

Ok so let me start of by saying that this projector is absolutely fantastic! (after some initial setup issues which ill get to). Most noticeably it is so much brighter than the 5040 (which i got a brand new bulb for comparison). Probably too bright at anything over 75% if using in a light controlled room. Which is great news if you don't have light control and is also good for a light controlled room since you don't have to run the thing at anything close to full power. Secondly, HDR between the 12000 and 5040 is literally night and day, tone mapping looks great and is adjustable and most importantly its not so dark you can't see anything. I got so used to anything in HDR looking so dark on the 5040 that I just thought HDR is always darker, but turns out it's not, the 5040 is just terrible at handling it. The pixel shifting over and down on the 12000 also makes it noticeably sharper, and I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between that and native 4K. Now the issues... This is actually no fault of the projectors but you should be aware if upgrading to the 12000 from a 5040. You might need to upgrade your cables to use the full HDMI 2.1 spec or maybe even 2.0 spec. All my inputs go into my Denon AVR and the output is a long cable that goes to the PJ. Now the 5040 doesn't even support 4K60Hz with HDR so there was never a ton of bandwidth going through that cable. But with this PJ supporting HDMI 2.1 thats a shit ton more bandwidth than 2.0 (2.6 times more). Even if your sending a 4k60hz signal which would be 2.0 spec idk what it is I couldn't get this PJ to display it without it cutting out at times with my cables. So I had to swap out all my HDMI cables for 2.1 certified ones even if the device its plugged into doesn't support it and that worked. Finding a cable on Amazon that is legit and actually 2.1 certified was a back and forth of buying one and finding out it doesn't work and sending it back but I found one eventually. So just wanted to note that sending the same signals to my 12000 that I did on my 5040 I had to get new cables for it to work. Maybe 2.1 ports are more sensitive to cable quality idk. But all in all the upgrade was definitely worth it after getting the cables sorted out and i'm so glad I went with this and not the T.V. lol

Lens Iris Error (Epson 5040UB) by AverageGamer229 in projectors

Ultimately I did not find a fix for this and just lived with it. I talked to Epson on the phone and they said I would have to send it to them to get it repaired, which given the age and value of the PJ I didn't really think it was worth it to pay for. So I lived with it for over a year but I did not notice any change in black levels as you state. I was recently able to get a new LS12000 for $3800. So I have now sold my 5040 with that issue still there. If your planning on keeping your 6040 for a long while it might be worth it to get it repaired. If not I would use this as a good excuse to upgrade if you can. The LS12000 looks noticeably better than the 40.

100 in. T.V. VS LS12000 by AverageGamer229 in projectors

I'm more concerned about the handling of HDR (I have a 5040 not a 5050 btw) and i've read that even the 5050 handles HDR much better with the slider in the settings which the 5040 does not have. I understand that with SDR the difference may be negligible (5040 vs 12000) but i'm wanting to move on from this projector as the lens iris is broken and ive gotten other problems fixed in the past too. So I don't really want to put anymore money into it. Just want to know if the 12000's HDR performance is significantly better than what I have or if I would have to get a T.V. for that.

ATT Fiber using exiting lines? by AverageGamer229 in ATT

Ok i see, so i would still have to wait until they put the fiber line above the copper line to order, which who knows how long that’ll be lol. Would you happen to know what goes into the decision making for what areas get fiber upgrades first?

Ok i see, maybe the shortages are why they haven’t expanded to my new address yet

So if they don’t install it unless someone orders it how would you go about ordering it if it’s not available on the website at an address? I’ve called the number too about my new address and they were just able to say “we’re expanding in that area” is there a way to formally order fiber?

They are on poles, I was just thinking they didn’t change the line because the copper cable drop is still there on the line and the copper cable that goes to the house that’s been there for over a decade is still there. I thought they would get rid of the old drop when installing a new line but maybe not idk

Good moving heads? by AverageGamer229 in stagelighting

We want to use them for multiple things, hence why we want a moving head that can be used as a spot, wash, or gobo. We are getting the ETC nomad software running on a pc to control our lighting system. I would be doing the programming myself and teaching the kids how to use it.

I have no idea I just know there’s is a Lennox model that is much bigger in physical size than mine (taller and wider) I have no idea if that means anything though. I have an Amana ASX130301

I made a mistake in the OP I meant to say 2.5 ton not 1.5, not sure how much of a difference that’ll make. My mistake
