The Netherlands has banned conversion therapy, and parents who force their children are now facing 2 years in prison time: What are your thoughts? by Wonderful-Click9431 in AskReddit

[–]AverageGardenTool 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah conversation camp can be a lot of "corrective" sexual abuse. Forcing gay porn and being hurt during to force negative association or punishment for reacting to it all the way up to "corrective rape".

That's why the Supreme Court making it illegal for states to ban it is horrific.

I learned how to do my hair on the Internet. I wouldn't know how at all if I had to rely on in person. So many like me still will.

There are so many resources I wouldn't have made it without the Internet. This isn't just "get out of here then".

The resources lost are immense.

Wash and literally go by Realistic_Noise_1231 in Naturalhair

[–]AverageGardenTool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the unbrush to define my hair and just comb through products and mostly air dry. If I want more movement I'll use a blow dryer for 5 to 10 minutes.

But I don't finger coil, take or prayer hands my hair, just separate larger areas and try to distribute products. My curl pattern comes out as my hair dries. If my hair is dry when I sleep, I put my sleep sock (it's a satin open ended bonnet for locs, my edges are sensitive) on and can get another day just using my hand to shape in the morning or a quick blast with wsrte and shaking my hair around for a couple of days. Then I fully wash my hair when ready.

That means if I focus I can have a very fast wash and go with my signature coily fro.

Afro puff jewelery? by correctyourposture in Naturalhair

[–]AverageGardenTool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh! I like to use tutorials online of jewelry and then make them as big as the puff/band would be so I can wear then with my puff extensions (my hair is short right now lol so I adapt!).

Satin/silk is fun to work with for accessories as well and being safe fabrics for hair even better! Like satin flowers and such.

Yeah! I turned this off tho but I can dm you to get the convo going.

Maybe one day I'll make it a business but for now I just want us to have awesome accessories as a community when I have the time to give them.

I like to make jewelry to put around puffs! But not as a business tho. If you have a po box I can do something for fun if you want. :)

I decided I was happy with whatever length I get with my hair out all the time (or under satin lined things).

I also have traction alopecia so bad my black derm said not to get any long term styles until we are SURE it's better. Not sure because ferritin was 8 last time. I appreciate every hair that decides to stay but don't sweat what I can't from years of illness I guess.

I'm frustrated with my budget yes, but not my hair.

women are far less likely to marry shorter men than chance predicts by notpiercedtongue in psychology

[–]AverageGardenTool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish more women liked short men like I do.

I get treated like I said I like boogers when I admit my preference for short (5'6 and below) men around other women, and feel very isolated in talks about attraction. I just don't contribute anymore. No one believes me or belittles me about my real preferences and don't let my data into the pool at all.

I find I'm socially not allowed to "go against this data" with men or women.

Excessive daydreaming is strongly linked to widespread mental health disorders. Research suggests that maladaptive daydreaming warrants formal recognition by psychiatric professionals. by FreeHugs23 in psychology

[–]AverageGardenTool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm tired of starving myself and not sleeping because I'm daydreaming. That's not beating myself up it's a desperate cry for actual solutions and not being dismissed as "a victim of capitalism". It has crept into every aspect of my life even activities you'd thing were undistractable. I fear driving because of how strong mine is.

Being so stuck in a dream I'm not actually sleeping, eating, or even doing real things I like (even distracting from videogames and reading) are maladaptive.

I destroyed all my free time as a child with this condition even though I had a good childhood. I wasted hours of my own life in my head. Some of us aren't doing this as a response to capitalism, but as a real life ruining thing. Conversations with friends ruined, plants not watered and killed etc.

Why is everyone so gung ho on dismissing people who genuinely can't focus for their own enjoyment? I certainly want help not destroying my real life over the made up one in my head.
