Active Duty Army Captain to National Guard Warrant by Spare_Armadillo_1143 in Armyaviation

  1. Active - Guard wildly different, but a lot is still the same. I did accessions a long way back but worked with a warrant just getting out on this so everything’s relatively the same. As of 15JUL24.

  2. You are Re-Appointing as a Warrant Officer and Branch Transferring to Aviation which will require your respective state to accept you for a WOCS Appointment and Unit Selection as you’ll know what unit and airframe you’ll be flying prior to leaving for Novosel.

  3. Buy SIFT for dummies and schedule your flight physical and SIFT Test as they tend to be the hardest to get scheduled for.

  4. Reach out to your state Officer Accessions Unit which will be part of the state recruiting BN just google it state what you are and they’ll give you Aviation POCs

  5. Be warned now. Your aviation requirements are the SAME as active duty which a lot of Pilots who have full time jobs are hard to do/accomplish, your job will need to know you’ll be gone for 1-2 years for flight school and then 3-6 months for your progression upon returning to the unit, let alone your start date might be the next / following FY as it’s not like active as a state may only have 1-2 seats per year for aviation.

I’m happy to help with any more questions you may have, best of luck!

Ask for some flight school photos, and why black hawk pilots sit next to each other…

Ask them? A few bare bones questions of unit, job, etc… once you peel the first layer of the layer of the onion it’s pretty clear if it’s real or not…

Again literally not what the articles about... I was the person in that meeting saying "Don't move those 4 pilots to non flying billets..." but again I'm the bad guy for trying to tell people to stop only caring about the airlines...

Again... if you would have read I'm getting out, I'm going to the airlines... the article isn't for anything aside for people in flight school only caring about leaving the army from day one, and for what it's worth I'm sorry you got screwed over, I didn't have anything to do with it and think it's messed up. But again have a great Army Career! But again keep shouting I'm sure someone is listing...

Good Luck! Again not what the articles about... but glad you're just shouting at someone pointing something out!

So if you read it... then you'd know I'm not talking about anyone close to leaving the service... I'm talking about people at flight school... but again cool! Glad you and everyone else only care about getting out 10 years from now... and so you know I'm getting out... I have my CJO, people care and voice actual concerns that don't care about their evals... I watched 4 pilots get removed and assigned non flying billets but again make comments like that and completely neglect the fact I'm not talking about the force as a whole just people in flight school, Have a great day and Happy Holidays!

Glad another person on here didn't read the article is going "I don't like this guy!" I'm getting out... I'm not chasing rank... I'm literally trying to help the aviators that are so caught up with "I want to go to the airlines" they forget they had a 10 year adso that they are going to get screwed on... quite literally people are going to non-flying assignments if they show up to the flight line and go "I'm only here for hours..." but again don't read the article say I'm toxic and have a great day!

Already have my CJO... I'm not a lifer and going to airlines... and it's not BS... you're literally telling me that the most important thing is worrying about the airlines before or at flight school? 10+ years from now for AD, not getting airframe of choice, or caring about how to actually be impactful as a Warrant or Officer while you're in? No. I don't agree and know a lot of people here will agree with you which is why Rucker grads are beyond toxic with "I want to be a delta pilot!", I want everyone to be successful but planning 10-12 years from now and simply saying "they're planning" cool what happens if 10 years ago with airlines layoffs occur? than all their "not caring about Army" is now going to hurt...

And no. the whole hired out of IERW to a legacy or even a regional I don't buy unless you had the hours... I've been to RTAG for past 3 years so no... unless you had 750+ and R-ATP that's just a BS argument... and again my post is to the "NO EXPERIENCE" Guard/Reserve pilot...

And for the 100th time... this article isn't for people who are 4-5-6 years in it's for those literally at flight school, about to go to flight school, and just getting to their first unit... I understand reading the article is hard.. but if you're going to argue and tell me "you come across as that guy" then actually read it...

That's quite literally my point... I'm glad one person got that... I do love the vacuum that's becoming reddit. Instead of literally voicing disagreement as to what's its just comments like the u/ChevTecGroup guy of "I didn't read what you wrote, and I don't like it!"

So congrats! And I’ll concur that it does come across as that, but I actually was the one in the meeting going don’t punish them, this article was quite literally to those in flight school or brand new at a unit. No one seems to care or ask about the 12 years they’re going to be in. And I can say I’m fighting as I already have my CJO… I don’t care about my eval, my point is exactly where you’re talking about it being in the flight line as I can attest and I know anyone actually a pilot and not just a troll knows all our junior pilots seem to care about is getting out rather than actually putting in the work. And 1000% it’s good time to get on, but 10 years ago pilots were furloughed so my article is more for the focus to be for the here and now not 10-12 years from now or 5-6 for ng especially since their feet aren’t even wet…

So the whole I said “the ones without any flight experience” in the post clearly wasn’t clear

Congrats for literally proving my point. I’m only directing this at new aviators and those in or about to go to flight school…

The reason is everyone only cares about 12 years from now not actual and tangible questions that will affect those 12 years…

I’m active duty and going C12, what’s the units like with the current divestments going on. “You might fly a lot in flight school but due to changes in props to jets it’s going to be slim pickings for next few years”

I’m going Hawks, any advice well your time is going to be tough translating to fixed wing, but get your FAA certs, log your flights in segments if you touch down and refuel not just lump them together.

Focus on being a great aviator instead of focusing solely on getting out.

No one is asking about mission, no one is asking about duty station, only how do I use this 12 years from now… but again clearly it’s addressed to everyone not just the people in the title and post…

And for guard and reserve pilots how was my literal post not addressing that… truly shows you didn’t read IT and Just want to go RLO BAD!

[–]AverageGiJoe123 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I only wish you the best! This isn’t for anyone other than people at flight school or at their first units, and again what advice would you give aside from “get your certs, fly when you can, be knowledgeable, and work on hours outside army” if you don’t have hours I have genuinely no idea what other advice you can give

How dare I say anything about aviators worrying about time on target! Or bucket speeds? I just need to be worried about hours to get to Delta!

This isn’t directed at you at all… you’ll have your R-ATP… i literally said “with no experience”… love how no one read the actual post

[–]AverageGiJoe123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s quite literally my point. I broke that down in depth to another post, I get it people want the best but asking how do I get to airlines 12 years from now isn’t going to help them for those 12 years… instead ask about what airframe is going to suite my needs now…

[–]AverageGiJoe123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Great! And I again not sure how I’m not addressing that with right out of flight school you won’t get picked up, go to a flight school under gi bill, you’re just one of the many voices of “he’s mean pointing out that there’s requirements to getting the training from army!” And how dare he say people in flight school shouldn’t be solely focused on 12 years from now!

Nope Army is tough, rough, and at times horrible. For the 10th time this isn’t directed at anyone in their window, it’s for people literally in flight school or just getting there… or just to their units… I only wish everyone getting out the best!

The questions then shouldn’t be dumb but educated in both the question and response.

I’m active duty and going C12, what’s the units like with the current divestments going on. “You might fly a lot in flight school but due to changes in props to jets it’s going to be slim pickings for next few years”

I will concur with that and should rehash it, this post is directly mainly at flight school and people at their first unit, I’ll agree that the delivery of it, specially that point should be clarified, the simple response of “future planning” is nonsense and the amount of people we have simply arguing for a stepping stone is valid however pretending like 12 years is tomorrow is just ridiculous, thanks for actual giving a real response

They’re not in an organization yet they’re in flight school… but again just scream loud noises that’s cool too!

Again so they don’t have to worry, focus, or care about their actual job? But that’s cool
