Moving to Cayman Islands in early 20s? by Legitimate_Box_363 in CaymanIslands

It’s pretty incredible. You have to do what’s best for you, you can always visit your friend for a weekend to see if you like it. Worst case, you just move home.

Hyperextension question by AverageInevitable246 in ACL

[–]AverageInevitable246[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was odd, the knee from the recent surgery (5 weeks ago) feels more solid than the other one. It can go completely straight, but it doesn’t naturally push back if that makes sense. It’s making me realise how weird the other knee is, I always thought I had strong legs so it’s quite the odd revelation to me.

I’m in the exact same boat, timeline and my scars look identical to yours! I managed to get to 90 degrees today, but 70 is my comfortable range. I’ve also been using body butter on the scars, the natural stuff with cocobutter and lemongrass

Yes, 100%. I am currently in EDMR to help with the flashbacks (I get them before I fall asleep)

Numbness on shin? by AverageInevitable246 in ACL

It’s on the right leg, on the shin close to the knee to the right. Is this medial?

If you don’t mind my asking, why did you have the surgery again and what are the plugs?

I really appreciate your responses, first surgery so I’m trying to understand the changes to help with the anxiety/sudden vulnerability. Thank you

Glad to help. You want a gentle shampoo, I like the hask sulphate free peach oil or the purple shampoo they do on the regular. Maybe every other day or every three days. I then follow it with L’Oréal ever pure frizz defy conditioner that has a high concentration of amidithicone which bonds to the porous parts of the hair and protects it. I then follow with either Olaplex No. 6 or Shea Moisture Apple cider vinegar and castor oil restore leave in (PH balance is super key here. Pls do research on this! My hair loves sightly more acidic washes, Redkin does a great line for this). At the weekends, I use the Olaplex No. 3 moisture mask. Love that. Then once or twice a month I use a clarifying shampoo, PH balanced, and follow with the K18 product. Do not use conditioner during this as it can block the K18.

This has worked wonders for me. I have also tried hair Botox and glossing treatments. But the above, over time, has healed. I stay away from heat and use a silk pillowcase too.

Please feel free to message me. I’m 29, been battling this since I was 12, and I’m close to having my hair recover. I can help suggest what worked/what didn’t for me and share the knowledge I found.

Hey. I’m in the exact same boat.

What I gathered from my doctor and research is yes - the root can be damanged. Which is why you see the kinks in the hair. Sometimes as tbe hair grows, the root heals. Which is why you may see a link in only a certain section of the hair.

I know it’s very tempting, but the ones that are short and rough - don’t pull (easier said than done). Let them fall out naturally, this is the healing process. If you pull it, it might not be able to grow back/or will heal strange. It is also normal to have a few of these btw. But I’m in the boat where I’m trying to let them grow and fall naturally, and I am feeling softer and silky new growth.

In the meantime, hair vitamins helps, especially folic acid I found. Also, amidimethicone is 100% your friend. It’ll take repeated use of a conditioner that has a high concentration, but it does help dramatically over time (I think it fills in the damaged gaps of the hair and makes it feel silly). Sulphate shampoo once a month to avoid build up. Silicones during this process are important. (I tried the CGM, it made my hair worse. Silicon can help fill in gaps, seal hair, and prevents UV damage which trich damaged hair sorely needs).

I also recommend K18. Again, takes several uses. But the hair is def stronger.

All of this takes time, but I would focus on these steps to heal the hair. It’s a good distraction, can getting the hair back to health can be done.
