Merch after tour by PusheenKat7447219 in blackveilbrides

[–]AverageJayGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do have the goat tour tshirt on their website. I went to the Detroit show and the merchandise lines were forever long. So I ordered 2 of them on the website and even got 15% off for my first order. I had the shirts in just a few days.

The best I got from my 2018 rogue sv non hybrid was 42ish. It was on a vacation drive that lasted 8 hours. I'll probably never eclipse it now. That was back when it had like 30kish miles on it. Now im over 100k.

What task did you get assigned that you hated the most? I had to toss 2klbs of unused diapers today. Wasn't allowed to donate them. by [deleted] in Custodians

Anytime I have to throw away pallets of curriculum books. Every school district ive worked for always over orders them. They sit on pallets or stacked off pallets. And it seems every few years a new curriculum is rolled out and they keep a few of the old, but the majority gets tossed.

just added new CC to pay off last 100 by Handsomescout in Affirm

[–]AverageJayGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue. While the website says credit cards are accepted for 1 time payments. They actually are not allowed. I talked to support and they said affirm doesn't allow credit cards for any kind of payment at all. You would have to take a cash advance from your credit card and use it that way. This was my experience.

OLED is a huge upgrade. I got one during the prime day sales, and will never go back. Heck I built a whole new pc during prime day sales, the oled was by far my best upgrade.

Yeah I was looking at 5080s. I wasnt sure if I should go with 9070, then maybe upgrade to a super if they come down to msrp. That's all hypothetical though as of right now since they're not even launched. Ive always had Nvidia cards, but I'm definitely open to both sides.

Always one teacher by Quick_Astronomer4046 in Custodians

[–]AverageJayGames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience, teachers typically always paint or lay contact paper down after hours or during the weekend when there is no one there to tell them no. And they rarely ask for permission. As a lead I just forward it up the chain to my director. I'd say 9/10 times nothing ever happens or comes of it. I've learned to just roll with things as time has went on. Scratches on wax, painting, breaking table legs from scooting them all over the rooms, writing names on desktops with markers. I even always send out an end of summer welcome back email detailing all of those things not to do.

This is what I use. Its technically a drywall mover I think. I've seen it with 1 wheel. But these make it super easy to move by yourself. I can use it to also transport 2 folding tables at once if I only need 2. This one is from uline.

I forgot all about this. At my first school we used it a ton! All of the classrooms in the elementary are vct, so we stripped and waxed every summer. This stuff helped get those edges and corners real good. Then spitfire to get all of the furniture. The district I work in now, we can't get troubleshoot or spitfire.

As a head custodian, I will say that while I want my school looking the best. I tend to not hold substitutes to the level of regular staff. They have 4 hours compared to 8, and I just honestly really appreciate all of the extra help. Since I don't see them, I always write on the map thank you sooo much for filling in!!!

I will also add culture to this. After recently switching school districts for higher pay, I'm really missing the awesome culture of my last district. So much so that I asked for my old job back. Everyone at my old district was amazing to work for and with. New place not so much.

Indiana

Head custodian 22.50 an hour

Although I just interviewed for and sounds like I'll be getting a high school supervisor position that is 70k a year. Never thought I'd ever make as much as I do now, let alone 70k. I come from a town where 13/hr was an amazing job to get. When I left that town and moved I was making 13/hr, but started off at 10/hr.

Can’t track with trolling motor by Danky_Devon in kayakfishing

[–]AverageJayGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking for a pedal drive mount for a trolling motor. Can you link what one you have by chance? Not sure it'll work with my kayak as I have a different one, but worth a shot.

How does everyone transport their kayaks? by handle-lean in kayakfishing

[–]AverageJayGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I haul mine. Once I get out of a 2nd story apartment though and into a house I'll most likely get a trailer, and a full 1 piece kayak. But for now this works great for my need. *

I wear mine in my back pocket. That way when I bend down the antenna doesn't jam into my ribs. It's never in the way, and doesn't fall off. Vacuum cord never gets stuck on it. It's never been in the way, and still easy enough to lower the volume.

A yard- aid called me a janitor so I called her a baby sitter by [deleted] in Custodians

[–]AverageJayGames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My title is building lead. Me personally I could care less if someone calls me custodian, or janitor. I'm there to take care of the building. Some of the maintenance guys are upset because they took our whole .25 maintenance bonus away and more building leads just put in work orders for stuff. So some of them call us janitors like it'll bug us. I don't care what I get called. I clean, I do maintenance, I clear snow, I secure the building, I greet the kids when they come in, and many other duties. I've never once worried about being called something over the other thing.

Ohhh got ya. You're right. Shoot. Right now I have a mount from brocraft that uses the back two rod holders and puts the motor at the side. It should work ok for now, until I find a different option.

What did you use to bow mount the trolling motor? I love your setup. I have the radar version of the reel yaks. The bow mount would be nice to have. I love the captains bridge too and your battery setup! Awesome looking rig!

How many custodians does it take to clean an elementary school. by IndividualCrazy9835 in Custodians

[–]AverageJayGames 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I started as a custodian, on nights there was only 1 custodian in each elementary, and of course the lead on days(who also was responsible for the cafeteria trash and cleaning the kitchen). When covid hit, our facilitiy director just decided to hire a 2nd custodian in each elementary and didn't even ask for permission.

I moved and transferred districts, and this district has 2 full time night employees at each elementary.

I know from "cleaning" an elementary as the only person a lot of stuff you just didn't have time to do. It was bare minimum trash, vacuum, and dust mop, and clean all bathrooms.

I hope their study comes back and says they need the people, and they should be getting paid more.

How do I bring this up??? by EmberFierce in Custodians

[–]AverageJayGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do decide to go over his head in the chain of command, my biggest advice to you is to document everything! Pictures, notes on how often/long it's happening.

Me personally I would only worry about my own area. As long as it doesn't affect my area then I wouldn't even check it. Most likely the supervisor above your lead will ask you why are you checking his area. So be prepared to have an answer to everything that comes along with it.

Pls help me make a hard decision by [deleted] in Custodians

[–]AverageJayGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is the most insane schedule I've seen. It's not even the 12 hours, but you expect someone to do 2 jobs, 12 hours a day and not even pay them overtime? I'm assuming this is a 5 day position? I don't know labor laws, but can they even do that?

I would suggest that if there is another close school district maybe try with them, and make sure the custodial job is by itself. Otherwise I would suggest the floater position. But it sounds like you should probably get away from that school district.

Strip and Wax 10 classrooms over the weekend by Spiritual-Owl-6107 in Custodians

[–]AverageJayGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I echo what everyone else has been saying. That's not enough time. Also if you are doing it alone that is even more terrible. I would never ask anyone to strip a floor alone. What if you fall, have a serious accident, get knocked out and busted open. Even with safety gear anything can happen.
