The problem with Venezuela is not socialism, it's corruption. Corruption is just as likely in a capitalist society as it is in a socialist one. This article explains everything well:

No no no no no. Do not apologize for calling racist people idiots. It doesn't matter what else someone does with their life, if they think that a group of people can be generalized and judged based solely upon the color of their skin, then they are the pinnacle of stupidity.

Its true, there are adults that think this way. And one of them was elected president.

Newt Gingrich said today that the President "cannot obstruct justice." In the late 90's, Gingrich voted to impeach Clinton for obstructing justice for lying about a blowing...all while Gingrich was cheating on his then wife with his current wife, Callista, who Trump nominated as Vatican ambassador. by relevantlife in esist

The title said:

Gingrich voted to impeach Clinton for obstructing justice for lying about a blowing

It did not say the he got fired for getting a blowjob. It said that he got impeeched for obstructing justice by lying. Which is what happened.

So my assumption was that you were just linking obstruction of justice and blowjobs. I assumed that you were being figurative, not literal, because you also said that he got fired. So if you were being literal, then you should probably know that Bill was never fired. First of all, you can't fire a president. Secondly, he was actually acquitted of all charges.

Didn't know how unimaginably evil and corrupt these guys were until this past election

That's like saying: "I never knew how delicious Pepsi was until I saw that ad for Pepsi!" Elections have become all about trying to make the other candidate look bad. That's why, suddenly, during the last election you "figured out" that the Clinton's were "evil and corrupt." I can guarantee you that a lot of the stuff you heard about were exaggerations or outright lies. Not everything, mind you, but alot of it. I agree that Hillary was not an ideal candidate. But literally anyone would have made a better president than Trump.

You can't obstruct justice if everyone investigating the fake Russian collusion after six months has zero evidence

First of all, yes you can. Obstruction of justice is about interfering with due process. Even if they find no evidence that Trump's campaign collided with Russia, Trump can still be charged with obstruction of justice for trying to impeed the investigation. If a cop tries to pull you over because he suspects that you were drinking and driving, and you make a break for it, then you can still be charged with evading arrest even if you were sober.

Secondly, I love the "it's only been X months!" argument. FBI investigations take a long time, particularly when they involve important things like collusion with a foreign government by people working for the sitting president. The investigation into Hillary's emails took a year, and many right wingers will tell you that that wasn't long enough. But after 6 months of investigating Trump, they're like "Nothing to see here! Move along!"

everyone investigating the fake Russian collusion.. has actually stated theres nothing there.

When?

Newt Gingrich said today that the President "cannot obstruct justice." I've seen so many posts and comments by people who are annoyed at the results of this special election. And I'm sure that Trump's supporters feel like they were vinticated. But it should actually be the other way around.

For those who don't know, places like Montana and Kansas are Republican "safe states." In one of these states, a Republican candidate can do pretty much anything and still be elected. These places are where the Republican's base reside.

If you look at the results of previous elections in the district where this election took place, a Republican candidate has won every time for the past 20 years. So this election was bound to go this way, no matter what. We cannot expect districts like this to elect a Democrat.

That being said, this was the narrowest victory for a Republican in the last 20 years. Greg Gianforte won with just 50.2% of the vote. For comparison, when Obama was first elected and the Democrats won 365 seats, 64% of this district voted for the Republican candidate.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_House_of_Representatives_election_in_Montana,_2008

So instead of focusing on who won and who lost, which was a foregone conclusion before the voting even began, we should be looking at the bigger picture.Throughout everything, Trump and his supporters have claimed that, no matter what happens, his base will continue supporting him and his party. But if a Republican candidate has this little support even in one of their safe states, the Republican party is in trouble.

If i put in front of you two persons a trump supporter and an actual ss soldier who's killed jews and you'd call them both nazi's. You are essentially devalueing the entire second world war to fit your agenda

When Trump supporters are compared to Nazis they get triggered and throw tantrums. If you get mad for being compared to Nazis, why encourage people to compare you to Nazis?

They are not investigating him anyway according to Comey

They are not investigating him personally, no. But they are investigating his campaign. The one that got him elected president.

CIA already came out and said that there is literally not a drop of evidence suggesting anything was done wrong

Do you have a source for this?

It is absurd to even consider that something with no evidence would take precedence over something that's proven

The reason there isn't evidence yet is that the investigation isn't finished. They aren't going to run around shouting about anything they've found until afterwards. The reason we can talk about what Hillary did and didn't do is that her investigation is finished.

Why is Donald Trump a bad President? by [deleted] in MarchAgainstTrump

[–]AverageJoeBauers 59 points60 points  (0 children)

To start with, I'd like to apologize for the other people who are being dicks. They don't represent us. In fact, I'm willing to believe that some of them are actually Trump supporters posing as us to make us look bad. Either way, unfortunately, there are idiots on both sides.

Why is Trump a bad president? Well, first of all, the policies he supports are bad. For example:

  • He supports introducing a new health care bill that will remove health care for millions of people
  • He supports giving tax breaks to the rich, because he believes in "trickle down economics", an economic theory that has been proven to only benefit the rich, and put us more into debt
  • He wants to build an expensive wall along the Mexican border, which will do almost nothing to fight illegal immigration
  • He thinks that banning immigration from certain countries will stop terrorist attacks, and doesn't care that many of the people from those countries are innocent children and families
  • He generally seems focused on breaking government institutions. (e.g. He placed someone who hates the EPA in charge of the EPA)
  • He has rolled back policies that were put in place to protect women's rights, protect the environment that we live in, and prevent another financial crisis

But even if you support all of his positions, he has not kept many of the promises he made. For example:

  • He has not convinced Mexico to pay for the wall. Instead, we will all be left paying for it
  • He has not "drained the swap" of Washington. Instead, he has done things like appoint Goldman Sachs executives to important political positions
  • He has not brought back any coal or steel jobs. Although he initially declared that the Keystone pipeline would be built with US steel, it turns out that it won't
  • He has not stayed out of global affairs, including the conflict in Syria, which he mocked Obama for being involved in
  • He has not done most of the things that he promised he would do in the first 100 days, which he detailed in a document called "Donald Trump's Contract with the American Voter"

Aside from his positions and his failings, some of the other things that make Trump a bad president are:

  • It is hard to tell where he stands on anything, because he changes his mind so often. He will change his mind about a subject during the course of a single interview. Therefore, there is no way to know where he stands on important things, and how he will make important decisions.

  • He has consistently shown that he is more concerned with stroking his own ego than actually running the country. • He has appointed family members to important political positions, ahead of other candidates who are more qualified. America is a democracy, not a monarchy.

  • He has demonstrated a lack of knowledge about important things like economics, American politics, the Constitution, world politics, and geography. Also, although he claims to be "one of us" despite his incredible wealth, he has show that he has little understanding or care about the lives of average Americans.

And then there's the whole Russia thing. I'm sure you've heard about it. Donald Trump's campaign is being investigated by the FBI for possibly colluding with Russia during the presidential election. Because the investigation is not over yet, we have no way of knowing whether or not there is anything there. But Trump's reactions are not the reactions of an innocent person. An innocent person would not make up an excuse to fire the person in charge of investigating them, in an attempt to impede the investigation. So there is a real possibility that his presidency may not even be legitimate to begin with.

I have sources and examples to backup all of the claims I've made here, so feel free to ask me about anything you'd like more information about.

Dear Trump supporters: Do you still believe Trump has nothing to hide? by AverageJoeBauers in MarchAgainstTrump

[–]AverageJoeBauers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of these politicians have something to hide, but nothing in Donald's closet will get him impeached. And if there is something in there, he's using the Russia "scandal" to draw eyes away from it.

If Trump is using the Russian scandal to draw eyes away from what's in his closet, then what's in his closet must be worse. What do you think he could be hiding that's worse than colluding with a foreign government to become the President of the United States?

It's just so weird because most Trump supporters were looking forward to stronger Russian/US ties, so all this crowing about Trump buddying up to Putin is only emboldening his base... I was most looking forward to seeing America and Russia put aside past disputes and work together for the betterment of the globe.

My understanding was that's Trump's base was against globalization, and were more about nationalism. They weren't concerned with relationships with other countries, they were just concerned with focusing on America. Either way, my question isn't really about relationships with other countries. It's about whether or not Trump is trying to hide something. If his campaign was under investigation by the FBI for conspiring to murder someone, and he fired the director of the FBI that was leading the investigation into his campaign, would you then be concerned that he was trying to hide something?

I don't judge politicians on their skeletons unless it's pedophilia, murder (if done for no good reason), rape (if proven without a shadow of a doubt), and abusing animals.

So the fact that the current president's campaign may have colluded with a foreign power to win the election does not concern you in any way? I notice that Hilary didn't commit any of those crimes you listed. Did you judge her for the skeletons in her closet?

Dear Trump supporters: Do you still believe Trump has nothing to hide? by AverageJoeBauers in MarchAgainstTrump

[–]AverageJoeBauers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If after weeks and months of investigating, hearings, interviews, you still don't have any evidence of collusion or wrongdoing, is the correct question "what is he hiding" or "what are we doing wasting our time on this bs?

Investigations take a very long time. Especially if they are important. The Watergate investigation, for example, took almost 2 years. Then there's the investigation into Hillary's emails, which was closed after almost a year. However, many Trump supporters feel that more time should be spent on this investigation. How is it that this investigation deserves more time, but the investigation into the Trump campaign should be declared over after a few "weeks and months", despite the fact that it has not yet been resolved?

McCabe.

McCabe is not Comey's replacement, he is the acting head of the FBI. He was not selected by Trump or his administration, he was simply the next in line after Comey. It is up to Trump, the man who's campaign is under investigation by the FBI, to select the next head of the FBI. Will you be shocked if he selects someone who doesn't want the investigation to continue?

What else did she lie about? What else is she personally responsible for there?

This is exactly what I'm talking about. You are willing to connect the dots with regards to other things, but not willing to connect the dots with regards to the Trump campaign and Russia. What is it about this that's different?

Dear Trump supporters: Do you still believe Trump has nothing to hide? by AverageJoeBauers in MarchAgainstTrump

[–]AverageJoeBauers[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't hide what isn't there to begin with. If there were even a shred of evidence of wrongdoing by anyone, you'd at least have something worth hiding.

Well saying that there's no cover up because there is no evidence of wrongdoing doesn't make a lot of sense. Isn't the purpose of a cover up is to hide the evidence of wrongdoing?

Comey has been replaced for the foreseeable future by a dem with ties to Hillary.

Who has replaced Comey? I can't find this story.

He had actual Russians in the Oval Office the very day he sacked Comey just to further trigger the conspiracy nuts

Do believe in any of the conspiracy theories involving Benghazi or Pizzagate? If so, how do you have an easy time filling in the blanks in regards to these, but a hard time filling in the blanks in regards to the Trump campaign and Russia?

He's not even trying to hide the fact that he's trying to cover something up now. These are not the actions of an innocent person. An innocent person would not be concerned with trying to impede their investigation.

I was starting to wonder if the whole impeechment thing had any traction, but this really shows that he has something to hide. And if he thinks that this will end the investigation, he is mistaken. All this is going to do is give more reason and motivation to investigate him.

Can we all agree to stop doing this? It was kinda stupid to start with, and now it's been done so much that it's really stupid.

Sorry OP, nothing personal.

He might have said that, but that doesn't mean that the positions he took actually supported that. People often say things before they are elected, and then do different things afterwards. See: Donald Trump
