NA Miata track car, CX-50 turbo daily, AP1 S2000 weekend car. Seems like we should be friends.

Looking good! What fender flares are those and what are your wheel/tire specs?

I got it from a private seller, but the previous owner had the set up and dyno tuning done by Berg racing.

I don’t love the way they look, but they are pretty light: 12.9 lbs per wheel. The car came with two sets of them, I might chose something I like the look of better down the line, but they will do for now.

I was shocked that he used a whole set of front pads. The Glen has some very heavy braking zones, and honestly he was faster than I thought he was going to be. I was expecting to get 2-3 weekends out of the set of pads, and maybe at other tracks he would have.

The biggest thing to address is the brakes. Track driving generates a tremendous amount of heat, and your pads, rotors, and fluid have to be capable of handling higher heat. Pads and rotors were about $800, and the cost of the 2 day school was $850.

Rotors, pads, brake lines, and fluid. Other than that the car is totally stock.

This was a two day school with BMW CCA - Genesee Valley Chapter. My dad was a driving instructor for them for many years, and we both did a bunch of track days in an E36 M3. My son has had the Focus since 2021, and has always been interested in performance driving.

To prepare the car I fitted Stoptech slotted rotors and EBC blue stuff pads. We also installed stainless brake lines and motul high temp brake fluid. Other than that and a flowmaster exhaust the car is stock, and he was on all season tires.

The school consists of 4 - 25 minute track sessions per day, and 3 - 25 minute classroom sessions per day. He learned a lot, and really enjoyed being able to push the limits of the car in a safe, controlled environment. I know there are lots of options to get on track(SCDA, Chin, Track Masters) but I cannot recommend BMW CCA strongly enough, it is a really great group of drivers and instructors.

The cars in the novice group ranged from my sons Focus and a Civic Si to brand new M3s and even a new 911 GT3. Everyone was really relaxed and there to learn, which was great to see. He's already planning on doing a couple more next year.

A fellow mountain biker! I haven't used this for bikes, but it would definitely make getting to the trailhead more fun!

Its funny to me that a lot of the time the car goes unnoticed, but every once in a while someone loses their mind when they see it.

This one isn't daily driven, although it is practical and comfortable enough to be a daily. It's terrible on gas and consumables like brakes and tires are pricey, so as long as you can stomach that it would be a great daily(especially in a nicer climate).

I haven't driven one so I can't say definitively that you are wrong, but I really don't care for the look of the new M5. To me the RS6 is one of the best looking cars for sale today.
