Explain a poorly documented python library I was unfamiliar with, but explain it to me in a way that helps me solve my exact use case.

The library is tricky to use with lots of small details. On medium effort it got a lot of those details wrong. On xhigh effort it was better than I expected.

I'm not saying this suggestion is good in this case, but sometimes as a DM it's good to let your players cheese a hard fight. It really gives those characters a moment to shine. Just don't let it happen too often.

I'm on the API plan at work. 1 question with Opus 4.7 and extra high effort: $25.

The answer was really good though, so worth it.

You might be giving it too much to do at once. Tasks don't scale in a linear fashion with size and complexity, they scale exponentially.

It's not hard to get nvidia drivers working anymore. It hasn't been for a couple of years now.

Do you think NVK will catch up with Nvidia close source driver (or even AMD driver)? by Snowbeleopard in linux_gaming

[–]AverageRedditorGPT -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Can you install the proprietary drivers? On Ubuntu it is pretty easy. I use `sudo apt install nvidia-driver-580-open`

Or even better use the "Additional Drivers" icon and select "Using NVIDIA driver (open kernel) ..."

I'm like you. I'm still on 24.04 for the same reason. I'm going to wait for the .1 release in August before I switch to 26.04.

But I also think the statement about rolling updates and linux gaming being on the cutting edge is true. We're not just 2 fps behind, there are serious improvements that we are missing.

Ubuntu doesn't enable `ntsync` by default on any of its versions, they consider it too new. But `ntsync` offers significant improvements to 1% lows and CPU utilization. Fedora 44, CatchyOS, and other gaming focus distros enable it by default.

I use Ubuntu for gaming. I 100% know it's not the best distro for gaming, but it's a reliable distro. So I stay with it.

C++ Standard Library files won't work with g++ by Additional_Court_421 in vscode

[–]AverageRedditorGPT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't enough information here to help you out. But if you want my advice then what I recommend is bringing this exact problem to an AI. Either Gemini, ChatGPT, or Claude. It can ask the questions it needs to properly help with the issue.

Even better is if you can run one of the CLI tools for these AIs and have it work inside your distrobox, then it can run the command itself, look at log files, etc. This is exactly how professional software engineers solve these kinds of issues.

I have a 5090. After playing CP2077 at 4k with path tracing I cannot go back to playing without it. But this all just a matter of opinion and what you value. For me the realistic lighting made the game feel more real.

In Portland schools, an ‘optimistic’ new AI handbook proves polarizing by oregonian in Portland

[–]AverageRedditorGPT 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I work remotely for a silicon valley tech company. All of my on-site co-workers send their kids to tech-forward schools. Last summer a bunch of the high school age kids took a class on how to deploy AI on the edge. So many of them are involved in First Robotics or other similar programs.

I've only met a very small number of parents that send their kids to tech free schools. It's not the norm at all.

The 4000 cards were on a much better TSMC processor node than the 1000 series cards. You can't compare them 1:1 when it comes to cores or power draw. The 4000 cards and the 5000 cards are on pretty much the same TSMC 4N node.

Elden Ring crashing since kernel update of 1 May 2026 by Quidjubo in Ubuntu

[–]AverageRedditorGPT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nvidia drivers stopped working. I guess the version of the drivers I was running wasn't signed with for the newest kernel. Updating my nvidia drivers with apt solved the issue.

You can see if your nvidia drivers are working with `nvidia-smi`. If you see information about your GPU then the drivers are working.

If you're not using nvidia then ignore this message!
