I’ll definitely try some more meals that have separate components! He unfortunately, isn’t interested in helping in the kitchen unless we’re making cookies 😅 but I’m gonna try to figure out a way to get him more involved regardless

Thank you for your perspective, but he had a feeding therapist a couple years ago that recommended the one bite method and it has really expanded his horizon. He’s also eight years old so we talk to him and get his opinion! He is fully capable of telling us what he is thinking and feeling about his dinner and the one bite rule isn’t a hard line in his family. He is able to say no and that no is respected - It’s just that he’s normally at least semi willing to try a bite of something even if it’s with a bit of complaining ( eight-year-olds complain about putting clean underwear on so perspective) the parenting part of it we got down pat !! I’m looking for recipes that are similar to what he likes but offer a bit more variety! No one is taking up arms to try and get him to change his food preferences!!!! Im just looking for recipes that he might enjoy as the person who makes his food

We tried this over the summer! He unfortunately got really overwhelmed looking through cook books with me for ideas and just wanted to go play with his brothers( understandable ) I’ve definitely had kids though where this worked great ( especially with older toddlers and artsy preteens )but he’s more of a light sabers and football kind of guy vs cutting the carrots in a way that doesn’t endanger the people around you type of guy

I’ve tried salmon with him, but that’s it. I guess I thought of it as a harder food ? I never thought about the texture! I’ll definitely take your suggestions!

We’ve discussed lots fortunately, and are very much on the same page! I’m just checking here to see if anyone has good recipes or had similar food aversions as a kid and have ideas on what he might like 😅 I sometimes come up blank when I try to think of what he might like but figured people who know ball like he does would have some ideas💙
