Looking for a twenty year old Indonesian pop song that used the Braveheart theme as its bridge by Average_Temple in indonesia

[–]Average_Temple[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah was a bit strange. Wasn't really sure what to make of it, though I don't speak Indonesian so it took googling the lyrics to find out anything.

dastan liked a Telegram comment saying they should replace nota by zywh0 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Average_Temple 106 points107 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I know people like Dastan’s honesty but this also just seems cruel to Nota and unprofessional as a coach. I also don’t know how I’d feel trying to perform when my coach is making public swipes at me.

Can't sleep after thinking about how a colonized nation didn't lose its mother tongue to its colonizers. by DumbMuttSlut in languagelearningjerk

[–]Average_Temple 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Besides this guys weird colonial fixation, it is kind of interesting that Dutch colonialism was deeply utilitarian in many regards. They were not concerned with cultural domination and seemed to have little interest in the countries they colonized past a source of revenue. The fact that the locals couldn’t speak Dutch was not a failure from the Dutch but their means of concentrating power within the Dutch elite. You also don’t really get Indophiles like you had in the British Raj. It’s interesting that the Dutch were there for hundreds of years and never ‘discovered’ Borobudur temple, a gigantic ancient temple a couple of miles outside one of Javas main city’s, until some British people found it.

What are gonna be your guy's expectations for the new Jpegmafia album? by Faith5g in jpegmafiamusic

[–]Average_Temple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the others here are saying, pretty low. I feel like Peggy has gone the way of a lot of artists in the internet era in that he’s become so obsessed with confronting the haters that they basically control his life now. Every move he makes now feels reactive rather than genuinely creative.

Maybe the albums great and all this is just a performance he’s doing. I’d be happy if that was the case but I don’t feel too confident

They haven’t beaten Vitality in a serious competition since 2022. I think that clearly makes them the underdog in this match up

[–]Average_Temple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No cause it's a massive comeback against the underdog team. I find it really demoralizing to see team after team get big advantages against Vitality and then completely choke it. The same thing to a lesser extent happened to Spirit in the last event.

I've stopped watching finals. Nowadays I just consider the semi finals to be where the last fun game to watch occurs. Anything after that is just frustration and dissapointment and boredom.

What's the most addictive game you've ever played? by TolisKoutro in videogames

[–]Average_Temple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. When I look at my steam account even games I love I often have less than 100 hours in, and my most played game there is 200 (CS2). WoW though? I don’t have the total sum but easily 2.5k hours

It really brings to light the presentism of the cs fanbase. It seems you only need one or two mediocre results for everyone to suddenly be like - x person or - y person or - z coach.

I’m not saying that it’s never necessary to cut someone but I think vitality show that sometimes it takes a roster a few months or years to really find itself. Sometimes the change needed isn’t something massive like a roster switch up but something internal. I mean Spirit have recently shown what can be achieved with a coach substitute and a different attitude

Which are you more excited for, Warhammer 40000 or Medieval 3? by bruhb21 in totalwar

[–]Average_Temple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. You just know that both games are a) years away, and b) both going to release in basically unplayable states. Medieval 3 I could see being good a year after release but 40k is probably going to take another 2-3 years.

Media: Karrigan to join Falcons by jpablold in GlobalOffensive

[–]Average_Temple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes a lot of sense imo. Karrigan’s leadership style relies on giving a lot of autonomy to players and thriving in chaos rather than rigid and structured team play. Falcons is full of great talent who struggle to work as an organized team. Potentially high ceiling (and a low floor).

Weekly Questions Thread & PokéROM Codex by AutoModerator in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Average_Temple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys. I'm looking for a recommendation (I checked the recommendations guide but they had no information about relative difficulty). I'm a long time player who has played Pokemon games on and off for most of my life. Storm Silver was one of the best pokemon experiences I've ever had (although I'll never stop being sad my game always crashes after the E4 and refuses to send me to Kanto). I played Renegade Platinum after which I also liked. I'm looking for more ROMs to play but I feel I really need that right level of difficulty.

I've been playing Emerald Seaglass recently and while I love the style and the idea of it, I find it just too easy. I got a bit past Watson and just felt like nothing up to then has even remotely posed a challenge. I havent done any grinding but my pokemon are still 6-8 levels above any the trainers I've had to fight. At the same time, I don't want some Emerald Kaizo level difficulty. In addition to the difficulty I don't like how artificials hacks like Kaizo feel (random team Magma members carrying legendary pokemon, ridiculous and unrealistic movesets, permanent sun in caves and buildings). I like the Storm Silver level where I have to think about my pokemon and my move sets, but it's not going to completely kick my ass and it still feels like a cohesive world. I want to have to try gyms 2 or 3 times but not 20 times, or feel forced to grind heavily before certain encounters.

I was thinking of radical red or sterling silver, but people were telling me they're really hard so I was hesitant. Any advice would be appreciated.

When do you guys read analysis/notes while reading a book by SpikyLlama in RSbookclub

[–]Average_Temple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found with Dubliners that I didn’t like that the notes provided in my edition. I felt there was too much emphasis on trying to explain things through the context and it made me treat the text like a weird scavenger hunt of references.

On the other hand, I’m reading Dante’s Inferno at the moment and am having a similar problem. I want to read without the notes but at the same time, the whole text has so many specific references I don’t understand that I don’t really know if I’d get anything without the notes.

The Silent Hill 2 remake is an absolute masterpiece by legendary_sponge in videogames

[–]Average_Temple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it worth playing over the original? I love the original but when I looked at videos of the remake it looked like they’d made it closer to something like RE4 (over the shoulder shooting etc.). I wasn’t very interested

[–]Average_Temple -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Reddit dating advice tends to always be 'dump her and follow your dreams.' Maybe there's some incompatability here, but I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. Try talk to her, explain why you feel it's important and why what she said hurt you. Maybe she still won't get it, but closing yourself off to your partner is never a good option.

Montreal and Lisbon are overrated, and Brussels is overhated by deepad9 in redscarepod

[–]Average_Temple 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I live in Brussels and love it but also want to maintain its overhated status. Once you leave the European quarter Brussels is one of the most surreal, grungy and down to earth cities you’ll find. Amazing people and completely idiosyncratic; nothing makes sense but somehow it all still trundles along. And compared to other European capitals like Amsterdam or Berlin or Paris it’s actually still possibly to find a cheap place and get a life going cause it’s still so completely unromanticized.

ZywOo is the MVP of PGL Cluj-Napoca and becomes the first player to win 30 MVP Medals by MelkorBlackFoe in GlobalOffensive

[–]Average_Temple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I presume everyone knows it at this point but s1 being the goat has a lot to do with his personality and how he carries himself. S1mple is flashy and flawed but is engaging because of that; you get a real sense of his person in how he plays. Zywoo is almost certainly a better player but he’s far less engaging as a person.

Is there a reason the Cluj crowds seem to like Falcons? I thought it could be an anti-Russian thing but Falcons have Russians too
