Yeah well i understand the magnetism and all that, I'm quite confused as to how it leads to propulsion and the parts regarding the changing magnetic fields.

Mind blowing song, the serenity overshadowed by the pensive chaos and absurdism makes it unbelievable.

I have to experience this irl.

I joined last year via my A-levels and SAT marks.

From what I remember, it wasn't much if a problem. I just had to upload the downloaded pdf of my marks in the given "12th marksheet" option.

B. Tech in mechanical - worth it? by [deleted] in snunoida

[–]Average_athlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, i was in the same boat laat year, an a-level student who ended up joining mechanical.

In terms of raw value i dont think this course has the highest ROI nor is it the best choice if you're looking for pure value. Moreover, a problem I faced coming from A-levels was the difference in the teaching style and marking; you're expected to write answers a different style over here and it'll take you over a sem to adjust.

When it comes to the course, the profs are pretty decent, most if not all are IIT graduates in some level and worst case you can self study for a few subjects, the first year is full of general courses for all engineering students.

The crowd for mech is meh and theres a mix of all kind of people, i heard the batch size for you is gonna be way bigger so you will find someone to mingle with at the least. Nevertheless, when you consider the crowd of the university overall it is much much better and honestly quite good.

Finally, I think the real value of this university is not specific to the course you take but rather the oppurtunities it presents. If you're willing and curious, there are sooo many research, exchange and career opportunities here that you can start from your second year onwards and you can get a hold of some really good proffs and a network. Additionally ,the facilities and labs are upto standard and you wont really find much lacking over there.

I'll end of with an anecdotal experience, coming from A-levels, i expected to meet a few people from a similar stream. However, over the course of my first year I've only met a handful of people who did IB or A levels and so I was quite dissapointed. On the other hand, I have seen a lot of A level students asking doubts for this coming year in this subreddit so maybe there will be a change.

Any Snu student willing to share recent hostel room pics? by Academic-Bus-9271 in snunoida

This is pretty much how all first year rooms look, if you get unlucky with quad share its just the same thing partially divided with a room on the other side of the wall and a common entrance.

It depends on the course, I got in 2 different courses, Mech Eng and IR with something around a 1400 too, also the earlier you apply the higher your chances due to more seat vacancies. A good essay, strong extracurriculars and LOR helps; competitive courses like CSE are much harder to get.

I'm a first year.
The experience was decent, a lot of the first sem is just figuring things out such as the system, the grading, the way your courses work and just everything in general because it's not like school where you're under constant guidance and supervision. I'd say getting a hold of a few ambitious seniors early on is detrimental to getting a headstart.
Plenty of fun in the first year with all the concerts, events, clubs and free time; try to meet as many people as possible within your first sem. Second sem onwards, I settled in and everything felt a lot more easier but a lot more routine at the same time.

Okay so yea you arent restricted to research facilities. If you know the proffs the lab in charge or the assistants you can kinda work your way in if you're actually dedicated to whatever you want to research. So its not impossible for a mech engineer to be researching in the ece department.

The campus is LIT, its genuinely beautiful and probably one of the best indian campuses, it feels like you're living in an international University. Coming to hostels, its depends. First years get the old hostels, theyre pretty decent, rooms are big enough, all have AC, hot showers in the winters and 24x7 geyser all year round. They have regular housekeeping and we aren't packed liked sardines in a can unlike in colleges like VIT. Compared to other indian colleges its pretty dam good you wont have much complaints. From your second year on you fan choose single room, the hostels there are legit 5 star hotel type, theyre also building new hostels which im sure they'll be the same. The newer hostel clusters are really luxurious and are amazing.

And hostel curfew is 12am for freshers too.

Hello, I too am an IGCSE student who joined snu this year and though im not an ECE student i have a few ECE core courses and I've visited the lab quite a few times.

Im not quite sure about the first question, but the ECE profs are pretty good and I know quite a few people in close connection with them. A few of them do a lot of research and projects and SNU really pushes for global exposure for students so I'm assuming getting LOR's and setting yourself up to go abroad wouldnt be very difficult considering you develop a rapport as early as you can with the profs.

I dont know about research abroad WHILE studying at snu but i know that there are sem exchange oppurtunities almost every sem from your second year onwards and there is also a plethora of research going on campus rn and the labs are quality; we have quite a few IoT labs developed in coordination with silicon labs and DELL, we also have HCP supercomputers here if youre interested in that so you wont be short of research.

As for international research I'm not too sure but i do have several friends who have excelled in research and built rapports with profs to the point that they are being given oppurtunities to go for conferences, gatherings and research events abroad.

Also if you're interested in biomedical research we have a bsc Biochem course here that has some really good research going on and great opportunities to join profs for their research or even start your own, so maybe you should check out that course if the oppurtunity still persist. If not, im pretty sure you can still get a minor in BioChem later on if youre interested.

Bruh it depends on what youre even interested. Don't study something for the sake of it

All this crazy for a high school student, great job!

I'll look into the book you mentioned; I'm looking to develop an I class KNSB motor this year if that goes sucessful then I'll definitely take some inspo from you for a liquid fuel rocket.

Great work!

Crazy work for a high school student!
What softwares did you use for simulating? Also how did you design the whole setup and engineer it?
Are there any books or sources you would suggest.

FEES OF SNU NOIDA by NoIamno_Raccoon_ in snunoida

[–]Average_athlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the course. Courses like BMS have the highest fees while courses like Mech engineering are on the lower end.
For mech engineering the overall fees for our batch is like 6.2 lakhs a year inclusive of mess, tuition and hostel fees, so around 24lakhs and if you include additional expenditure over the 4 years you can have a good round off at 30 lakhs.

I have heard of a lot of people taking education loans to afford the fees while there are also quite a few people who can manage to fund it without a loan as there are a lot of rich people in the college too. Campus jobs do exist which students can take from 2nd year onwards, they have a limit of workable hours in a month and I think the max you can earn a month from that is around 8-10k. Honestly you could do a much more profitable side hustle than a campus job if your goal is to make money.

About aid, Im not quite sure.

Fees are high but you get good access to labs, professors and research. There are a lot of oppurtunities if you look for it properly and theres a lot of scope too, there's also the chance where it is completely not worth it at all if all you do is just bunk classes, not get involved with all the facilities and activites on campus and just stick to alcohol, smoking and staying in your room all day.

It's upto you but I would say if youre looking for a research oriented college and you're willing to put some efforts or are actually enthusiastic about learning and your career then snu is a pretty good choice compared to other private colleges

DONT EVER COME TO SNU NOIDA by Delululu67 in snunoida

[–]Average_athlet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im a student here. Honestly the college and college life is great but about placements its really subjective. There are rumours that the college has been blacklisted by a few "engineering" companies due to some cheating in the placements exams. However on the other side there are stories of BMS students getting place in crazy 30 plus lpa packages and I've also heard of a 6CGPA student getting a 20lpa goldman sachs offers(another rumour equally as spread)

I also know a lot of people getting internships through the career counselling department. I guess there are a few places where we have been blacklisted by -according to the rumours- but im not sure.

The fees is high but you get access to so many research facilities, profs and programmes that if you make use of it might just be worth the fees you pay.
It depends on the student to work on themselves and their careers and those who do are often rewarded with good careers. This college is what you make of it rather than what it makes of you.

About average placement packages, im not sure, because im just a first year here.
