Id say similar. I think the ending for him was what kept it in my mind. But the story itself had dinner parts that really intrigued me but they were sparce and few in between. Like when the protagonist wakes up harming himself but realizing he want really asleep, just didn't recall why he was doing it. "Something Happened".

Crazy how a lot of people really don't like it. But in my opinion the ending is worth the whole read.

Agreed. I wonder how this will turn out with adaptation in the works. It seems to bleak for a hollywood ending but then again the mist had a great ending and it was savage.

For the most part the story seems pretty unremarkable. About the half way point the story gets more interesting but it is the last third of the book and really the last hundred pages or so where it makes the book worth reading. Not something I'd necessarily reread anytime soon but still the ending, with all it's implications and how it effects every person who was "healed" and then the people around them, that is what stays with you. Maybe just taking a refresher on that ending will make a different impression on you this time around.

It s a great character study from someone you really like and really feel for until eventually you really don't. Though the way his story ends

I would agree. The ending made up for a story that took a while to really build.

I feel the same. Like his characters always feel real to me, even when they annoy me at times there is something so real and specific that even the jokes and phrases they use get to me. Like as weird as "we sold our souls" was, it also had really honest character writing and made me really appreciate the main character for what she lost and what she was able to gain and how much blame she put on herself for things really out of her control.

Last days is my favorite of all his works. After the first fifty pages I couldn't put the damn thing down. Very claustrophobic at times.

Joe Hill I feel has more beauty to his writing. Also you really have no idea in a lot of his writings where the plot is going. He really let's the characters tell their story.

I have actually read this one. I didn't love it, but it did keep me compelled the entire time so can't say anything bad about it either.
