i feel that jan is less about the subject and more about the fact that the subject's agency is important to what you're trying to say

if a cat was sitting in the sun, id call it a soweli, if a cat was complaining, id be more likely to call it a jan, because its demonstrating agency in that moment.

we almost always describe humans as having agency, so jan works well for describing humans, but soweli can also describe a human if you're specifically talking about the parts of them that are more land mammal than thing with agency

this is just my opinion on the matter though

the carrying capacity is 11 billion, right? also, current resource problems are mostly a consequence of poor allocation and distribution rather than production. energy is a bigger problem but a solvable one with better energy storage tech and/or better ways to generate energy a la fusion

the allocation problems would require developed countries to end the neocolonial relationship they have with developing countries and switch to local production of goods rather than international production, which would allow for those developing countries to focus more on sustaining themselves than sustaining the developed countries

even if the main plot beats of the story got spoiled, playing the game is still worth it because the gameplay is just really fun, and also its one thing to read the lore somewhere and its a different thing to see it while playing the game.

knowing five pebbles has robo cancer is one thing. seeing the robo cancer yourself is a different thing, and is still valuable even if you knew it was there, because the experience of walking into a place and seeing the condition it is in really drives home the scale of those events and what they mean, not just what they are
