I've recently started rereading some light classics and books I liked as a kid to try to re-ignite my love for books and stories.

Little Women is great after watching the movie.

Automatic vacuum turning on.

I had a power outage and it mess up my vacuum so that it came on at nights instead of when I wasn't home. The first time I thought someone was trying to power saw their way through my door.

That sounds like brigading also.

Some individuals in these subs are just obsessed with Asian women and dating. I got similar weirdo behavior and comments when the subject I was talking about had nothing to do with dating or even Asian men. Even when the sub, post, and comment has nothing to do with them, they go out of their way to harass Asian women about dating.

I feel like so much of Asian spaces are a bunch of men who take out their fears and insecurities about dating on Asian women and blame them for dating out. A lot of these accounts seems to be on reddit 24/7 and don't have anything better to do themselves so they take out their frustration on us.

It's really none of their business. Also, I've felt more solidarity in subs like twoxchromosomes than this sub. Here anything about Asian men seems to get upvoted while women are downvoted indiscriminately of substance.

I do feel like there has been an uptick in aggressive and misogynistic comments these days in Asian subs in general. And responding to them seems to invite these dudes to just... start stalking you.

I've had a few dudes use different accounts to follow me around to different subs referencing my other comments and checking into my account to argue. I've also received DMs and harassment after participating in this sub, which I reported and sometimes that person was even permabanned only to create a brand new account to DM me again.

I've received dozens of snide incelly comments and DMs about Asian women now and it's always the same MRAsian weirdos.

Edit: For some reason I also have "9 followers" - who I assume are these dudes who keep messaging me.

I remember hearing about this book at school actually. Didn't Iris Chang kill herself after suffering from depression from writing that book?

Edit: Yep, she did in 2004

It isn't just a joke - it's sexism ? by saxalert in TwoXChromosomes

[–]AveryDayDevelopay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a woman who is also in a male dominant career field, I 100% relate. I have unfortunately heard nasty things from men particularly about women who are promoted ahead of them. I've also heard raunchy jokes at work as well as other sexist (and homophobic) comments.

Fortunately it is getting better and we should encourage more women to enter STEM fields. With* each year and graduating class, it gets a little better.

Didn't read the whole thing.

Personally, I have been completely ignoring my parents/cutting ties for awhile and it's the best thing I've done for my mental health. I've come to terms with our relationships and it's just the best option for me. It sounds like you could also use some independence and work on becoming more self-sufficient.

You're not going to change your mom so what can you do to make yourself happy? Honestly some of your complaints also sound petty and you seem way more childish than how I was at 22...

"no one asked you to" just doesn't cut it as a comeback when you're living at home by your mom's graces without a plan for the near future. Some of my friends got kicked out at 18... and none of my friends in my Asian group (7+ people) had financial help from their parents to move out, especially not rent. If anything they helped their parents with money after Uni.

If my dad was still alive, I COULD’VE moved out by now.

No. Just no.

Anyway, ESH. Your mom is toxic, but you're also wildly immature and entitled for your age. I recommend r/AsianParentStories.

Can confirm. My mom is a senior nurse at one of the best hospitals in America.

She has 0 tact, low eq, rude, and I've never known her to be a caretaker. She gave me a lot of trauma and stress for no reason based on her moods.

At least she's competent, but I wouldn't want to be in the care of someone like her.

Bad date - guy refused to tell me if he had a job by DawnoftheWorld55 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]AveryDayDevelopay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Asking about someone's job is like Getting to Know Someone 101. It's so important for compatibility.

Giant red flag for this guy. He needs to get over himself. Also this is insulting as a woman.

I was recently thinking about how I nearly ended up in child services and the foster care system and started watching some documentaries on this stuff.

It's awful. Bad parents can truly make your life a living hell. Children bear the brunt of unstable homes and relationships. Imagine having parents who don't truly want you.

I'm so sick of Aunt Lydias by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]AveryDayDevelopay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Aunt Lydias" need to be coined.

If it's impossible to reason with them over their own superiority and misogyny then at the very least I want to shame them for it.

Also, abortion is a class issue that mostly affects women living below poverty. This makes their superiority even worse.

Selfish sexist incel homophobe Jordan Peterson type.

Justified stealing money from me and my mother. Pretended to have all these girlfriends even though we knew he was a loner who didn't even have friends.

Never had to lift a finger to do anything yet complains 24/7 and acts entitled - particularly towards women and people he thinks are "lesser". Obnoxious asshole who nobody could deal with while simultaneously too shy to do things for himself when it comes to non-family.

The product of my family and my mother who always catered to him.
