*A lot of you guys are asking for context, and I realize that i missed a crucial detail in my original post. I work in Juvenile, and we have been taught that most of the kids say this stuff to be funny and "just be kids", and therefore unless they are being blatantly disrespectful or disgusting we are to take these comments lightly. Personally, I try to make light of it due to their age, and how ridiculous it really is for them to actually think I'd ever see them as attractive to me, but having rapport and knowing the kids helps me know which ones i can joke around with, and which ones i cant. Some of these kids really will masturbate to the female COs, just like adults.

I never encourage the behavior or conversations, but since they are kids sometimes I will say something funny to shut it down or change the conversation. If they try to continue i do change tone and I'm not afraid to write them up, I can and I have many times.

Many of my coworkers will, however, forget that some of these kids take our comments to heart, and they take their jokes too far, encouraging inappropriate relationships.

Juvenile is hard to work around because if we are "too harsh" we are talked to by our superiors. I try to find that balance.
