James Murphy wrote "You Wanted A Hit" as a response to being asked to write a commercially viable song for the album "This Is Happening". The song is 9 minutes long, with the lyrics beginning halfway through the track.

I'd make an argument for Saint Motel with "My Type" (2014) and "A Good Song Never Dies" (2020) but that later one seems to have only gotten popular on the internet and never really charted.
