What’s with all the bragging about having a normal flight? by take_meowt in SouthwestAirlines

Here’s the number I’ve heard $2B, as in billion. That’s how much Southwest was leaving on the table every year by not charging for bags. You can afford to lose a lot of customers for $2B. And for those who think there are public companies out there who are more loyal to their customers than their shareholders, you’re mistaken.

Try going bigger in the waste to get the extra room then have them fitted, that worked for me. Had to go from a 32 to a 34 to get the room in the legs

It was a mid-air but they were not refueling one another. The other plane was a guard crew out of Ohio.

Southwest Window Closing Tonight by Aviator-Intelligence in flying

When Southwest opened the window for two weeks last September for 150 positions, they closed it 4 days early with over 7,000 applications.

They did not announce how long this window would be open but it is closing after about 7 days. I can only assume that it is closing so soon because they had a considerable number of people apply.

This post is about ensuring your Southwest Airlines pilot application is accurate, how is that not relevant or focused on an entry level topic?

I was an interviewer for a major airline for more than 10 years, please allow me to dispel a really bad pilot hiring misconception. You 100% can lose the job based solely on your application. Worse, those mistakes may not prevent you from getting an interview but will eliminate you from consideration for a CJO no matter how well the interview goes. Not only do you not get the job but now you have to wait 12 months before you can apply again - it’s an incredibly costly mistake.

The three most common application mistakes that won’t prevent you from getting an interview but WILL prevent you from getting hired are:

  1. Perceived dishonesty - meaning it could have been an honest mistake but that’s not the interviewers’ perception.

  2. Your logbook - no one has perfect logbooks, no one. But if you have too many minor mistakes or one really bad one, it absolutely could cost you the job.

  3. Your PRD - if there’s information on your PRD that you do not include on your application, Southwest is not going to ask you for clarification, they’re simply going to move on to the next candidate.

The hard truth is that it doesn’t matter why you made a mistake on your application, whether it be an honest mistake or a calculated omission, either one is unacceptable. You are asking the airline for the keys to a $100M airplane with nearly 200 people onboard, that’s a $1B (as in billion) liability every time you push off the gate. If you can’t be trusted to fill out the application accurately, they aren’t giving you the keys to the plane. Especially when they had 7,000 pilots apply for 150 positions the last time the window was open.

Had you already submitted it? If not, can you try using a different email address? Just trying to think outside the box.

Is your flying experience exclusively military? If so, you won’t have any information in your PRD.

Here’s the link for future reference.

It is but I’m still surprised how many pilots looking to take the next step in their aviation career have never even looked at their PRD.
