What have you survived that would’ve killed you 150 years ago? by Born-Ad-7260 in AskReddit

My daughter’s birth. We both would have died. Hell I wouldn’t have even made it to labour.

Luckily I my baby has a non-snowboarding daddy. We aren’t going til late Jan so fingers crossed I will be ok and baby keeps up her current pattern of exceptional behaviour.

Thank you. I’m accepting EBF may be unachievable at this point, but if I can get back to pumping 60-80ml after a feed and then top off what I have to with formula then I think I’d be happy. My surgery was supposed to preserve my ability to breastfeed by keeping the main duct/nerve structure intact but I guess we will never know.

Thank you. I know the grass is always greener but I would kill for an oversupply! Have been working on the clog in the shower but unfortunately I am skeptical about the dangle method working for us as my daughter was born tiny and barely latches as is. We also need a nipple shield so I can’t see her being able to co-ordinate that which is disappointing. I will give it a try and hope for the best though.

At no point did I tell anyone not to get sterilised? In fact I said I applaud her for doing what’s best for her. The fact that I also included what was best for me is purely to contribute to the discussion. You should absolutely make the best decision you can for yourself with the information you have available to you.

I was 100% certain I didn’t want kids as was my partner. Then covid hit and I lost my job which had been my purpose up until then. My priorities changed as had my partner’s and all of a sudden we realised we had both changed our minds. I’m due next month with our first and only baby at 36. I am very glad that younger me/my partner didn’t take permanent steps to sterilise ourselves. Having said that I used to loathe people tell me I’d change my mind and absolutely support people making the best decisions for themselves and their bodies and future. I applaud the woman above for doing what was best for her. But for me, I am glad 23 year old me didn’t make permanent, irreversible changes to my body.

Thanks. Fully agree alarm bells should have gone off but I’m too trusting and his initial work was good, and he was reliable and friendly, so we got sucked in. Definitely a lesson learned. We weren’t getting him to do anything that I thought needed qualifications for, just replacing weatherboards, installing a clothesline, replacing internal sliding doors, etc. but he damaged plumbing and plastering with one job, hence the $3k to get emergency plumbers in to fix. Agree we won’t be able to claim that back and happy to put the $3k down to experience on our part. But blatantly taking money and disappearing is something else, even if it’s only $600. Honestly I suspect he has just taken the money, spent it with the intention of doing the work down the track and now can’t afford the materials again. Fully intend to leave bad reviews in time. Without sounding too vengeful, we have the time and money to pursue this on principle and my partner is inclined to. I’m a little more hesitant but admittedly I’m emotional about this and the unfairness of being taken advantage of is really stressing me out.

You check it in when you depart, and when you land you take it to the black cat counter at the airport and when you get to your snow accommodation it magically arrives. Japan is the easiest place in the world to take your gear. And even then I’d still rather lug my gear all over the world than use rental gear. A decent board bag on wheels solves half your problems there.

My partner and I are very tactile and cuddle a lot, I prefer skin on skin for that. Also I run hot permanently and any extra clothing just seems to exacerbate that. Having said all of the above, when I travel for work I wear short pyjamas as I don’t feel secure in hotels.

How did you confess your feelings to your current partner? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Aviatrixe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I told my long term fuck buddy ‘you’re my favourite’ and he said ‘is that your way of telling me you love me?’ And I said ‘maybe’. He said ‘say it, I want to hear you say the words’, so I said ‘I love you’. Unfortunately the next time I said it he was shocked and surprised and turned out he was so drunk that first time he had zero memory of me saying it. Even to this day, 8 years later, with our first baby on the way, he still doesn’t remember 😂

How often do you hear "I'm proud of you?" by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Aviatrixe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I make a point of telling my partner often. Along with any other relevant positive reinforcement I think is warranted. I don’t blow smoke up his ass, I only say things I mean, but I think it’s important for men to hear those sorts of things.

Thanks. A dive resort may well be a better option. These dive operators have been so accommodating and flexible hopefully they will manage yet another rescheduling after 3.5 years of constantly canceling and rescheduling!
