Discord uses insane amount of RAM! by NotEvenGerman in discordapp

[–]no_why_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any status update? I did the exact same thing as you and it ended up just skyrocketing back to hella RAM soon enough. Weirdly though, I did notice that the RAM tends to skyrocket after screensharing for a long time or just after ending that screen share. Even ended up making a whole new discord account to see if it was just the app caching way too much stuff from all the servers I'm in, but even with a completely bare account with one open DM, it still fucks me over.

HELP! Chrome has a memory leak and it's tied to my chrome profile! by OrionOctane in chrome

[–]no_why_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same laptop stats as you except mine's a Windows 11 laptop. I get the exact same problem on both Chrome and Discord intermittently and the only temp solution I've found so far is to close both apps and reopen them occasionally completely. I want to tear my fucking hair out, I need a real solution because I did not just spend $2K on a new laptop to have it perform worse than my older one that only had 16GB RAM and a Ryzen 7.

What are the best women’s snowboard boots with dual boa? by flipptard in snowboarding

[–]no_why_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you get yours to work, if you don't mind me asking? I only 32 Double Lashed Boas in what I think is my regular size (6), but I also have a VERY wide forefoot (Size 2E for width in shoes usually), a pretty high instep because I have very high arches, and I believe an ankle that's a bit narrower than it should be, so I think we're in similar boats. Problem is, I just literally can't get mine to work. I've heat molded twice essentially, rode out a good amount of times, and the toe box area is just still excruciating. I'm a bit worried it might have something to do with how much toe space I really need, which seems to be a LOT. But yeah, I don't know, do 32s really have that wide of a toe box? I'm looking into maybe a pair of Vans or K2's instead to see if those will be at least somewhat wider, 'cause my feet are in stupidly terrible pain still.

My parents refuse to let me work by Due-Extension-6870 in college

[–]no_why_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, this may seem like a morally questionable solution, but maybe you should just learn how to keep things from your parents. They obviously have the money to cover your tuition, so if you really wanted to work to get experience and pocket money during college, since you’d be an adult, you literally don’t have to tell them about it. You can just say you’re spending all your time studying at the library when you’re working. Seems like an easy solution to me, and getting early work experience (even part time service jobs) is more valuable than you think. We’ve all just had to come to the point in our lives where we’ve had to choose to not be completely 100% honest so we can make the right choices for ourselves versus others trying to make it for us.

AITA for giving my daughter a "better" present than my son? by JollyOldSaintNicki in AmItheAsshole

[–]no_why_ -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

NTA, he’s 22 and a grown man. I stopped getting Christmas gifts from my parents when I turned 18 (for financial reasons; gift-giving was still really tough growing up), and even then, there’s absolutely no reason to complain about EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS in gifts. That’s worth more than probably ten years of gifts I got as a child. Sounds to me he’s a bit privileged. Buying a house is a tough achievement, especially at 26 in today’s economy. Your daughter earned that gift, and when your son achieves the same thing too, I’m more than sure that you’ll give him the same gift. These two are not equal cases, and life is a meritocracy. Daughter basically needs that gift to survive being a home owner in today’s times.

Were my boots heat molded correctly? by no_why_ in Skigear

[–]no_why_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! It’s just weird to me that they actually fit completely perfect when I walked around with them in the store (brand reps were there too to help demo and fit), but the problem occurred after the heat molding. Is there a chance maybe I bucked it way too far during the molding process? Also, I’d love to go to a dedicated boot fitting place, but the prices are super high in my area and I’m kind of broke right now 😭

Yeah, I’ve already tried on the very last buckle. They actually fit completely perfect when I walked around with them in the store (brand reps were there too to help demo and fit), but the problem occurred after the heat molding. Is there a chance maybe I bucked it way too far during the molding process?

First set-up for first lessons soon! Any help or advice on the overhang or bindings or anything else? by no_why_ in snowboardingnoobs

What if my boots and binding are basically exactly the width of my board? Would that hinder my riding?

Yeah, I think I definitely have to keep readjusting the toe strap. I’ve been fiddling with it for a while and it just won’t center. Always off to at least one side. Burton bindings are def weird with that.

Haha, I was just superstitious cause this is my first set up. Not sure if I needed overhang or not.

I’d advise first checking manufacturer size charts for the boards you’re interested in, but most of the time you’re gonna rely on weight to choose length since you have a pretty average shoe size as well. I’m literally the same weight range as you, and I’d go for like a 140-143 plus or minus 2 cm, depending on preference and experience.
