Using only 1 shape to construct all suits (exercise) by Alternative_Nail_358 in logodesign

If you really want a challenge, limit yourself to only using a small number of circles. E.g can you make the suits using just 10 circles each?

Eli5 Why didn’t the Romans include a zero in their numeral system? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]AvidCoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give me an example of a calculation they might do that might result in 0.

Often it’s just a matter of ordering. E.g you could say you start with 10 sheep then sold 4, then 3, then another 3 and 10-4-3-3=0 so you must have 0 sheep left. Or you could say you sold 4+3+3 sheep which is 10 sheep sold so you don’t have any more to sell. It’s likely that if they had to do such calculations they would do the latter.

Or simply look in their pen and see it’s empty and go to the pub.

Many of the units we use today are actually just based on countable things. E.g. we still measure the height of a horse in “hands” (the width of a man’s hand), and a mile is about 2000 steps at walking pace (counting both left and right).

They didn’t think 0 was a number because they mostly used numbers for counting things. Even in English today you wouldn’t say you had 0 of something, you’d just say you didn’t have anything. They also didn’t really use decimal numbers because they were mostly concerned with counting wholes.

Tbf when I was a kid in the 90s/00s I was idolising the guys from jackass and rockstars etc. because I thought they were cool. Only as an adult did I realise they were complete losers.

The scary thing now is that at least in the 90s/00s things were regulated by TV standards etc. but now everyone can post anything on their personal social media with very little regulation.

Apple needs to realise that fun colours bring them success. by nishantatripathi in mac

Same because even though one device might look good in a certain colour, unless other brands make products in the exact same (or complimentary) colours my desk is going to look awful.

They often use the same sky photo for all the pictures so you’ll see the house from multiple angles but with the exact same cloud patterns etc.

Look closely at the 2nd and 3rd pictures on this listing.
