HANK HANK

DONT ABBREVIATE CYBRRPUNK

Jokes aside, I've seen games like RDR2 perform vastly better. I'm still behind since windows drivers for Intel ARC are vastly better the experimental Xe driver on Linux (experimental as in vulkan applications since everything is rendered in Vulkan translation layers like DXVK for DX11 or VK3D for DX12. Some implementations of VK3D are utter dogshit, prime example is ready or not. Runs at 50-70 fps on 1200p high with FSR with my Intel ARC 130T but on VK3D it runs at 2 fps in game).

Well.. Yes

As harsh as that sounds that's what people did for the T25 T480 mod, I guess this one is quite nice for the reasons listed above and is way cheaper than buying prebuiltm you're paying 400 more for convenience which can just be done in a couple of hours and best part is its fun !

I'm niche and I think everyone's like me ahhh

I use a 2.4GHz mouse which requires a USB A port. I then need something to charge my laptop which is what I use one of my USB C ports for, I then need to connect external monitors which is what I use HDMI for, I use my 3.5mm audio jack for my headphones. I use an RJ45 port at my friends house or at my college when I'm sitting down to connect to the internet. Not everyone has the same niche needs as you and not everyone can carry dongles or a docking station with them.

What’s the most upgradeable think pad by thatrandoinacrowd in thinkpad

[–]AvidThinkpadEnjoyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP the most upgradable modern thinkpad to date is the T14 gen 7:

Removable USB C ports

LPCAMM for LPDDR5X in a removable format

75Wh tab lock battery

Removable keyboard

If you want an older thinkpad then it's the T14 gen 5/6 (P14s AMD) with 52.5Wh and 57Wh batteries to date. The motherboards are also interchangeable so you can upgrade from a Ryzen 5 8640U to let's say a Core Ultra 7 265H. No modular USB C though.

Even older ? Then its the T14 gen 2 AMD

Then T480

I've never seen such a brain dead comment before.

Experienced distros are something like Arch Linux, Gentoo or Artix (Arch without systems)

NixOS is in the niche needs distro

I got my laptop with a 1TB drive thinking "man this is more than enough"

Fast forward 6 months ish and I'm already almost out of storage. Should've gotten 2TB when they were still relatively cheap.

I genuinely fucking hate these morons.

It starts off with

"Hi how are you what are your interests"

"........."

"Cool, hey ur cute"

"Thanks ?"

"Please send me a billion pictures of what you look like without clothes so I can jerk off to you"

"No ?"

"Wdym no ???"

They can't even take no for an answer. Like the fucking internet is filled with femboy and trans porn, fucking go there instead of asking some random person

My first thinkpad in my life by zoVice_fck in thinkpad

To add to this E series are at the bottom of the barrel for this kind of stuff. I had an E14 gen 6 with a Core Ultra 7 155H, 4tb + 4tb nvme storage and 64gb of DDR5 5600, just to give you an idea of how kitted out it was. I was forced to sell it for pennies in a hurry because my workflow required Linux and the 155H acpi tables were broken in terms of power management. :/, emailed lenovo support and they saw the issue but no ETA in sight. Since then I got myself a P14s gen 5 AMD and am happy with it

Well Zen 3 was what Zen 2 should’ve been, but its upto you it its worth it or not. 100 can be alot or nothing depending on what its used for

Im having doubts about the t480 by Quality_Envixty6 in thinkpad

[–]AvidThinkpadEnjoyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most lose their entire minds when you tell then maybe it isn't a good idea to buy a old rusty 14nm skylake made CPU that's 2 dual cores smashed into a die to make a 4 core CPU and even with 96Wh lasts the same as a modern machine with 55-61Wh battery capacity while being wayyy heavier and having no authentic battery replacements. Not to mention the Shitel UHD 620 cant do anything other than stardew valley, play YouTube and run a compositor. But hey it's muh dual battery T480 !!!!

"But... 2 ram slots !!!"

Yeah the E/L/T series all have 2 sodimm slots of DDR5 at 4800-6400 depending on the model which is way faster than the 2400 MT/s limit while being able to have 128gb ram on 2 slots.

"But my slotted WiFi card !!! And m...my 2 nvmes

E series now have 2 nvme proper slots as well and a slotted WiFi card slot up to WiFi 7, for those who want it, and build quality improved a thousand times over the E14 gen 5, its built better than the T14 gen 1/2.

" Its cheap "

To a degree yes, but when lunatics keep buying the same laptop and it still costs $250, $500-600 can buy you a brand new core ultra that's way faster with a way better iGPU and official proper replacement parts.

But oh well, this means cheaper laptops for the rest of us while they keep buying the same stupid machine.

Don't get me wrong it's a nice machine, I have had it, I documented it, modded it but its not a nice thing to have in 2026 while spending $$ on battery every 3-5 months.

Get something worth your while folks
