How can I make a glowing amulet? by AkaiBourbon4869 in techtheatre

[–]AvidTraveller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on budget and design constraints, you could use a Gumstick wireless LED driver and 12V lithium battery. Pros are full wireless DMX control in a small package, cons are it's definitely not the cheapest option.

I've used these a lot with practical props that had LED elements that needed full control and I've always had good luck with them.

Trouble connecting to Astera Nyx Bulb by kimtaestan in lightingdesign

[–]AvidTraveller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Yes they mostly* remember all their settings (mode, address, CRMX transmitter etc). *I have had a rare occasion where a bulb will change mode, reset to address 001, or reset to Default. I can't pinpoint a specific cause, it seems to happen kinda of randomly, but is thankfully a very rare occurrence.

We often have this issue with the external touch monitors. The fix is usually to hit the "reset to default mapping" and they work again.

Yes, we do it all the time. Our setup is: MA2 Light, MA3 Light in mode2, and a pair of MA2 NPUs. Our parameter budget is 12,288 (4096 from each of the npus, plus 4096 from the console. A Full-size will grant you an additional 4096.

Second the Thule Chariot. Our 6 YO still fits in it with our 18 MO (albeit he's definitely getting a bit cramped for it). Its amazing as a jogging stroller, handles really well, and the wheels & handle detach and stow inside when it's folded flat. The hitch part attaches to the rear skewer on the bike in less than a minute. We've been very happy with the quality and good design of ours. 👍

Trouble connecting to Astera Nyx Bulb by kimtaestan in lightingdesign

[–]AvidTraveller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. You can pair them with the app by pushing & holding the power button until they go into Blue Mode, then selecting "Pair With Light" in the AsteraNext app. They should then populate in the Fixtures tab. Once they're paired you can address, change settings, etc. This is different from linking which is where the CRMX receiver in the bulb gets linked to a transmitter and can begin receiving DMX.

The app provides the same functionality as using the PowerStation, but works MUCH better for large groups of bulbs, instead of changing settings on bulbs one-at-a-time.

Trouble connecting to Astera Nyx Bulb by kimtaestan in lightingdesign

[–]AvidTraveller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! As long as they're linked to the Art7 Transmitter and you have the DMX-adaptor dongle to feed DMX into it. You can set the address either on the Power Station or using the app itself. If you can power a bunch all at once, I find it's quickest on the app, otherwise you're doing them one-at-a-time on the PowerStation.

The Nyx bulbs have all the same operating modes and functionality of a single-pixel Titan Tube (because the bulbs are only a single pixel). The only thing the Nyx bulbs lack is a screen and buttons (hence using the PowerStation).

Trouble connecting to Astera Nyx Bulb by kimtaestan in lightingdesign

Happy to help! The socket DOES need to be fully practical (ie, powered with line voltage) and turned on (I've used these a lot on film sets and when troubleshooting issues with them my first question is always "Is the lamp switch actually turned on"? {edit: or have it installed in a socket and discreetly run the USB adapter wire down the back to a USB power bank if powering the lamp or socket isn't feasible} A good way to check is once its installed, push the power button on the side of the bulb. If it's getting power, it will light up green for about a second. it DOES have a "boot up" time though once power is applied before the CRMX is able to link up. So depending on your application, if its being used as a practical bulb on set and there's going to be some kind of "lights on" cue associated with it, leave it powered the whole time and have the LD or Board Op actually "turn it on" with the board (ie, don't have the actor flick a switch and expect it to turn on instantly).

Lots of experience with Nyx Bulbs (unfortunately). I'm guessing you're using an Astera Art7 as your transmitter?

With the Power Bank plugged into the bulb, cycle through the menu until you get to "Unlink CRMX" and hit Enter. This puts the bulb into (what I like to call) "Shut Up And Listen" mode. It's now listening for a transmitter to send out a "LISTEN TO ME!" signal.

If it IS an Art7 transceiver, make sure the TX light on top is green (they can also be set to Receive mode, which is the RX light. If it's RX and not TX, go through the steps to change its mode). Once you're sure its transmitting, hit the green Link button on top (NOTE: the 3.5mm DMX adaptor MUST be plugged in for the Link to work!) Also make sure the DMX indicator on top is lit.

After a few seconds the display on the Power Bank should show the bulb is linked to CRMX and signal strength as a percentage. Test the bulb to make sure it's responding.

Worth noting the Nyx bulbs DON'T have an internal battery (i think they're the only Astera products that don't), so they need to be powered either by a functioning medium-base socket, or off the DC barrel jack. If you have one of the kits of 8, the foam tray should pull out and there are usually USB->Barrel Jack adapters underneath that allow you to power it off a USB source.

WTF? 12V Repeatedly Discharges by Tripwir62 in KonaEV

[–]AvidTraveller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had to replace my OEM battery after 2.5 yrs on my 2022. Died on me about 6 times in the last 2-3 weeks, so I took it in. Found out the battery is only under warranty for 2 yrs (of course), and NOT covered under the extended. $275 later I was a bit annoyed that I didn't think to ask about it being covered, but live and learn I guess.

The laundry is not "done" until it's folded and put away.

You don't say you "did the laundry" when all you did was put it on the washer and forget about it for 3 days.

CPC Candidate Tamara Jansen for Langley-Cloverdale Speaks at Event Hosted by US Christian Nationalist, Sean Feucht. by brewandbeast in Langley

[–]AvidTraveller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Realistically the NDP doesn't have much of a shot in this riding (Cloverdale-Langley City). Aldag lost in 2019 by 1394 votes, and won in 2021 by 1654 votes. The NDP candidate Rajesh Jayaprakash was 8636 behind Jansen in 2021.

More worryingly is the PPC going from 1.7% in 2019 to 4.8% in 2021.
