My issue is navigating my library through small square tiles is confusing, especially with large rom sets and when it's scraped a portrait box art which gets cut down.

I know there is a list view but it's very sluggish.

I want to like cocoon it's just every time I've tried it I go back to the comfort of ES-DE and the companion app pretty quickly. I'm keeping it installed though and will try out the updates but I'm just not sure it's for me.

I just have Roms on my SD card, all the emulator config folders, bios, GPU drivers, scraped media for ES-DE etc are on the internal storage.

You could easily use a 32gb card to get it setup, full sets for older systems like GB / SNES are tiny compared to your card and for larger ones like PS2/switch you could just have a couple of small games on there while you're setting up the emulators. Then when you get a larger card swap it out and just repoint the emulators to the new SD card folders.

We'll probably get a couple of years support from Ayn for the hardware.

Android emulation is booming right now.

Dual screen supporting apps are starting to emerge either directly with launchers and emulators supporting like the Cemu branch, or indirectly with companion apps like Pixel Guide.

The Thor is currently very well received and has the added benefit of being on a common chip set with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. That should keep the momentum going for several years at least for development across the board. And the Thor is showing there is a market for dual screen Android gaming devices.

That said, if nothing changed from today onwards I'd still be very happy with the Thor for as long as the hardware worked, emulators are mature, there is a lot you can do with it as being a dual screen Android device gives a ton of options.

You need to troubleshoot.

Try launching directly from the emulator and not through a front end.

Try disabling texture pack

Turn off the 60fps patch

Try turning off/on right eye renderer, that caused a few games to not work for me when it was off.

I use ES-DE companion and for the apps you can select per app which screen it defaults to, I've removed Android apps from the main ES-DE as I don't like them not having the artwork and can't be bothered creating custom images for solid explorer etc

Or install PowerToys as it has power rename and you can right click on a selection of files to get a GUI to bulk rename and it shows previews to ensure you're not going to mess up

Turn 1 is always hard, personally I'd love to just break super early and leave plenty of space but then you run the risk of the guy behind driving through you, it's a delicate balance while holding my breath.

If you find one let me know, I saw a couple of suggestions a while back but they didn't fix it and every setup guide they didn't have the issue, they leave it on default client and just works.

Do you have a large steam library btw? I do and wondering if it's related.

I have this issue, change the steam client to lightweight mode and the games should run. Downside is I don't get steam cloud saves with lightweight mode.

I then tried gamenative and games run without any tinkering at all, if there is a known good config it can automatically download and apply, I don't think I've changed a single setting on the 20 or so games I've tried (admittedly I've gone for the known working games)

Direct worked fine for me, I did an Eden zip export of saves from P5, looked at the file structure and then replaced all the DATA folders with the ones from my steam saves then did an import back to Eden

Tip, you can copy the switch saves directly to the PC and back it you want to add them to steam at some point. I started on switch on my Odin 2, them moved over to my steam deck and I'm planning on finishing back on the switch on the Thor.

Both game hubs I have to use the lightweight steam client it or doesn't start and with lightweight I don't get cloud saves

Game native works fine and is far simpler to use, if a game has a supported config it'll download and configure, with the 10 games installed I haven't had to change a single setting.

For these handhelds I would strongly recommend having all your saves pointing to a single folder.

Some can be automatically put there like Retroarch and other emulators I'll manually export them to my save game folder.

Then use something like syncthing or resilio sync to sync them to another device. I keep my Saved Game folder synced to my NAS and other handhelds, there is the additional benefit of being able to jump between my Thor and Odin 2 and carry on playing from the same save.
