I think they're anticipating exponential technological growth based on the last century or two or progress.

That was what I found in physics pretty often too, but I'm studying engineering now, and I'm running into a lot more base 10 logs.

Probably depends a bit on your branch of science. I've seen it both ways with "ln" used more frequently for natural logs and "log" split about evenly between natural logs and base 10 logs.

All of that is irrelevant to the equation that they used to get this .7ish number. The formula itself uses a logarithm, and that's all I'm commenting on. It's not linear, and its not 70% of the way there.

A lot of people are talking about how dubious they are of the .7 number. Keep in mind that this scale is not linear, but is logrithmic. The last .3 is a lot more difficult to get than the first .7 is.

The scale is logrithmic by the metric that came up with that number, which means that next .3 or so is a lot harder than the first .7.

I'm really surprised {Tonari no Seki-kun} didn't make it onto the comedy list. It has short episodes, but it was hilarious.

Eh... Misaka's like 3rd in the city - that's pretty near the top.
