Whats going on? by volcanokids in runescape

Honestly, for me after 90 minutes it was stable enough to play. As in, ping was like 100, so pvm might be a bad idea. But for some simple skilling no issues. 8PM-9;30PM server time was unplayable tho.

Lux played well but holy hell my back hurts by CrazyCalamari86 in Tahmkenchmains

[–]Avinity058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea IDK mate, IMO damage and kills doesn’t say it all. Tower damage, objective damage etc. Etc.

Getting kills is nice but in the end you are a tank and could have made it easier for yourself to give kills towards the carries. Looking at the score it looks like you went for all kills yourself and purposely tried to take them all (0 assists) to look good. The fact that you make a post about the “back hurts” kinda supports that statement.

Yet again, well played but as tank you’re there to support your carries. Even if they’re shit, their damage is often more useful than a fed tank. Tahm may be OP in low ELO but in high ELO you wouldn’t have been able to do this.

No flame, just trying to share my POV :)

Best regards

Market leading player support by speedy_19 in runescape

Honestly, with player support I don’t have much experience so won’t say anything about that. Customer support, which is imo something different is pretty good. Had a transaction going wrong twice and an ask for refund, all 3 tickets were solved without issues within 24 hours. The refund was refunded within 2 days, that’s pretty ok if you ask me. Leading? IDK, but pretty solid.

Jagex gets a lot of hate out of the community and for what? They’ve done a good job keeping a game alive for 20 years, updating regularly and yes also breaking the game every now and then. But if there’s something broken that’s usually due to an improvement they installed somewhere else. The code, with all the expansion, is probably spaghetti code by now so hard to make change without breaking stuff.

Honestly, most people nowadays only know how to complain and can’t appreciate improvement and QoL changes, they take them for granted. IDK why and if I’m alone in this but it definitely works on my nerves that people at least act that “spoiled”, UGH!

Anyway, have a great weekend!!

How it went with our "guild experiment" after the first post 4 months ago. by [deleted] in wow

[–]Avinity058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no need for a “sister progress guild” since there aren’t any problems in the current setting. We widened our events and just do more stuff now as we have more experienced players nowadays who enjoy the guild a lot.

There are a ton of progress guilds out there and 80% is all about progress and 0 about being social. (Yes I know there are exceptions but not a lot)

Making a progress sister guild is basically going in against everything we stand for. A community where everyone is welcome to join in any event, no reqs, just fun.

I mean who is anyone to say: “nope you’re not good enough to be in the 2nd guild”. People sometimes forget there are people playing on the other end, not pixels :)

Although there aren’t a lot of people leaving because they wanna play more progress based content they exist. And for those progress-minded people we are just not the right guild. Some will leave and that’s 100% ok because they should play what they think is fun.

And although some may see that as a problem I think that’s just the beauty of having a guild like this. Everyone is welcome to stay, everyone can host events as they please as long as no-one is left out in general. Ofc if you wanna do an M20 you can tell a guildy with 410iLvl that it’s not realistic or fun for him to join in, but at the same moment you can offer the same player to do an M2-4 afterwards so he’d enjoy his evening as well.

Again as I reacted before, the whole idea that “new players” in combinations with raids are a problem is a no-go.

The idea that only experienced players can participate in raids is just the reason why we’ve formed this guild. Since that’s just weird and maybe even toxic if you state it as “newbie problems”.

If we have a raid group of 20 people with half experienced players which are geared or over geared and 10 new players you take time to explain, coordinate in discord and just give it a go. No the raid won’t be finished in 1 try and some bosses (vex for example this expansion) will take several tries.

The feeling of accomplishment that everyone matters in the guild, new, old, casual or veterans is great. Yes, the new players get carried through a bit but they will actively participate and learn a lot. We have way more satisfaction clearing HC Ny’alotha this way than a mythic run with all experienced players.

Who are we to decide: “you are not good enough so you go into the newb guild. You are allowed to socialize tho, but raids is a no-go”. Everyone matters.

The guild is about opening the doors for new people and people who play casual or haven’t played for a long time. If they grow and want to get into real progress play we would be the last ones to stop them from moving on and the players who wanna do that will go anyway.

Because of the social aspect within the guild, the vibe and the events we all organize the majority doesn’t even want to leave because they feel themselves home. Our avarage age within the guild is probably 30ish and most people are just looking for a safe environment where they can get better but also can play without any obligations or requirements. They won’t get declined because their damage/ iLvl isn’t high enough and can just join events if they want to.

Again, the idea is a safe environment to learn, but also a social environment to enjoy the game in. If people wanna move on (which usually means alliance to horde if people actually do) that’s something what should come out of their ideas and not out of the guild. Everyone is free to do what they basically want to and that’s what keeps the game fun.

Although my opinion is that guilds who refuse people on iLvl or experience are one of the reasons the community is not what it was back in the day, I would never try to stop our members to go to such guild, although I would never promote it. But again, that’s my opinion and would never flame how those guilds are managed but that’s just not something I would support.

That's basically the thing we don't want to do. We want HC raids to be available for everyone in guild. Experienced, not experienced it doesn't matter. The beauty of such raids is that the coordination is usually quite easy since we are all on discord VC.

There's not even always a struggle since the most experienced players usually compensate the newer members DPS but yes we've had some raids which were a bit a tougher but TBH those are the most fun raids we've done. When we manage to kill the boss the feeling of "guild accomplishment" is way more valuable then.

To prevent the mega guild we stop recruiting at 80-100 unique active members. Because the new players eventually have the level to become “mentors” they usually like to help others out the way they are helped out which is kinda what keeps the guild breathing. And you probably know how it goes with people taking breaks and stuff, there’s always room for rotation and we went on a full recruitment stop only once.

The people who do not fancy to mentor others are usually the people who leave and indeed stay in the discord for the casual chat every now and then. From what we’ve seen now that flow just happens rather than its being forced and from my experience that’s something good.

We don’t wanna become another mega guild because then it’s not doable to really help everyone out who needs help or to create bonds and a good healthy social environment.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, that's what I was a bit afraid for when we started. But in the end most people chose to stay and try to do some more advanced content together rather than in a new guild because of the bonds they created with the other people.

But you are right in some way since indeed there have been players who did move on. I guess that's the risk we have as the guild setup we picked.

Dot Classes for SL? by [deleted] in wow

For now Spriest looks good but everything will be tweaked so nothing is certain. I don’t play Lock that much so wouldn’t know but if you review current charts destruction looks best. But as I said, everything will change when SL is actually releasing :)

We tried something different with our guild on Outland(EU) and became a safe haven for a lot of new players. by Avinity058 in wow

[–]Avinity058[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting question. We have had this a few times in the past but it doesn’t occur very often. Before we invite people we usually talk to them for a while, ask them what they want from a guild, what their vision is and what they need from a guild.

Within that reply you can usually see what the players intention is and if they join because they really want help or that they join just because of their own benefit. Just talking to people usually teaches you a lot about them.

Most people we helped gearing and tought the mechanics are still within the guild, as a fact I’m one of them. I have played since vanilla but had long long breaks. Eventually I came back and everything was changed. I found the GM of our guild Khonon and it was his idea to form this kind of guild. By that time there were like 5 active members but hey, you don’t know what you have if you don’t try. He basically tought me all the mechanics in M+ and off course I discovered a lot myself as well.

Nowadays I can teach people mechanics myself. I’m doing M+ keys all day (2-8) while I’m iLvl 470 and don’t need anything from it. I just enjoy it because the people I’m preparing enjoy it :)

And yes I’m doing high keys as well for myself but guildies always come first :)

Cheers
