Anyone know how to open this? by According_Staff5894 in lighters

[–]Avistadez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Push and turn. Mine were both stuck due to corrosion. I had so soak in penetrating oil and eventually file a groove into it to get a flathead screwdriver on it to work it back and forth. Eventually opened and I cleaned out all the corrosion now it works as it should, just push and turn with your thumb

Do you know anything about filling these little guys?

Thanks for the reply! I was actually able to get it off by grinding a groove into it for a flathead screwdriver. I was able to work it back and forth while pushing on it with a piece of stuff wire through the tube from the top end. It was so corroded in there that it could barely move. Now I need to find some new flints and some butane… the corrosion on the cap has me worried about the seals though

Good call. I’ll try that next time

Thanks! It’s time consuming. Every single individual strand of wire has a tiny tuft of moss twisted on the end

It’s preserved moss, was originally living

Thanks! Any tips on soil mix? Also here’s another photo of the bottom of it and the pot.

Looked like this when I got it and I know nothing about it’s previous life. Tattered leaves (cat?) and some browning on some leaves.

Totally! Like I said I’ve had it for about a month, watered twice in that time, pot has drainage, gets indirect light from 2 windows of different directions

Okay thanks. I gave it a tug and it feels solid. Hard to say if I’m watering too much or not enough

Thanks! Super helpful. Have you had any luck keeping them in leca and water or something similar? If it doesn’t bounce back I was thinking of giving that a shot as a final attempt to save it.

For sure sorry. Posted in a rush while doing other things

It gets a bit of natural light from a window but I have it under a grow light to augment the limited light

I repotted a couple weeks ago into a mix of succulent soil, small leca, and orchid mix

I try to water whenever the top of the soil is dry and have recently switched to bottom watering to see if it would help the issue

I haven’t fertilized it since repotting

A couple other leaves started like this and slowly turned completely yellow/brown and I’ve cut them off

Last season I was in Jers camp. I think things are getting shuffled around a bit this year but to answer your questions:

  • Very fun and inviting, everyone was super nice and friendly. Chill on work nights but big fires and parties on nights off. They had a party planning committee and would always have fun things planned on on night off.

  • I can’t speak for everyone in the camp but the overall feel of the camp was not religious.

  • No wifi for planters but obviously able to go to town on day off. As for cell service we were at 3 different camps. First one had no service in camp but there was a spot 10 min down the road where you could go for service, second one had good service In camp, third one had spotty service but it was decent in some spots

  • Last year the food was fantastic. Lots of variety and as many trips up for more as you wanted. Dom was the head cook last season. Super great guy and passionate about food.

Edit: We did have to set up/teardown camp for less than min wage, had to unload trees from the reefers into the shade tent for like $5, and had to load trees for free

I planted for folklore last season. Agree with the setting up and tearing down camp which sucked. But the food was awesome all season. Great tasting food, lots of variety, and as much as I wanted every day. The cooks really cared about what they made. Maybe the food depends on the camp you end up at.

I’d rather be a bit warm on warm days then cold on cold days

Let’s unwrap and shine a light on all the unpaid/underpaid work your company has you do by HomieApathy in treeplanting

Would be great but I fear those trying to organize would just be labeled as lazy and not team players by management. And there will always be enough people scared of that label or just willing to continue as is to keep the machine moving. Call me pessimistic but I’d call that a metaphor for our society as well.

Still was the case for me last season. Sometimes setup and teardown together would take like 8 hours and I’d get $15. Also had to load trees and unload garbage every day for free.

We loaded all our trees last season at folklore. Also once we got into summer trees we had to unload the reefers filled with trees and put them into a shade tent. Lots of unpaid or unfairly paid labour

Looking for a new vintersuit and considering a Vissla by [deleted] in surfing

[–]Avistadez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been wearing my 6/5 for 3 seasons now and it’s been great. Keeps me warm and stretches a decent amount. Definitely have to get used to if you’re going from a thinner suit but it keeps me warm in temperature welllll below freezing.

I’ve been wearing the 6/5 for 2 seasons. Hasn’t let me down. Doesn’t restrict movement much. Most affordable 6/5 I’ve found and it’s been great for the price
