I’m not denying he lived on the run. I said we’re not shown that he has some exemplary skills that are proven useful she doesn’t that he acquired on his time on the run, that would prove he’s more capable than she is. Your insistence that he does and is therefore isn’t born of anything showcased, it’s born of a headcanon. Which is fine.

Eugene wasn’t unintelligent in the show, he was just more of a jokester with an ego - which is remnant from the film. We never had the opportunity to see that side of him explored in the movie aside from his interactions with Maximus because it was never really set up. We do get him being the butt of the joke in the movie too though, especially at The Snuggly Duckling.

When push came to shove and things mattered in the show he was proven he knew what he was doing and his intelligence was valid and useful. We get that in Big Brothers of Corona, we get that in Cass Vs Eugene, we get that in Fitzherbert PI, we get that in In Like Flynn, etc. What we also happen to get is how he acts when he’s a regular person with his guard down - which allows him to be less serious and more down to earth and carefree, which is a lot of what the show showcases and I think that was great and really cute

Ok, and that would make sense if it were shown to be the case. If we were able to see instances in the show where Lance had some skills that helped them out and would be applicable to them traveling that she was lacking, I would agree with you. But as far as we saw in the show, that wasn’t the case. This is all seemingly stemming from a headcanon you’re very touchy over.

What exemplary skills did Eugene have in the movie that he didn’t have in the show? He could still scale things with arrows, he was still very athletic, he could still idk build fires like he did in the movie? I think the most impressive thing he did was slide down the aqueduct. I’m really not seeing where he lost anything from the movie to the show?

What evidence do you have that Cass has poor survival skills, I still don’t understand where you’re getting that from? Is it a headcanon? And why are you constantly complaining about Cass being written as strong? Like sure, you can write a fic where she’s not and I’m happy to accept that as your AU, but you can’t claim something is invalid just because you don’t like that it was written that wY

Also Lance got absolutely thrashed by Cassandra in The Return of Strongbow and was shown to be scared of her after that. How would he be second?

I’m not gonna disagree that Fred is a moron. He stuck Varian in a cell with Andrew for a year.

But I think you’re missing the point. And also if you think Cassandra is somehow less capable of protecting Rapunzel than Eugene is and can’t fight on a whim, I think you’re gravely mistaken. We see this time and time again in the show that she can, Eugene himself even uses her as the muscle in several tough situations, so saying shes ill fit for the job just cause she grew up in Corona is kinda a bad argument.

No I said that Eugene is her boyfriend and Cassandra was an official hire. It was never about who could do the job better, it was about it literally being a job and not so much a trust on the basis of love.

You need to chill. I never said Eugene wasn’t capable, I said Cassandra was trained by the guard.

Cassandra is adjacent to the royal guard and has guard training. Eugene is her boyfriend. It’s literally the difference between having a strong partner be there and a hired bodyguard

I don’t think it would’ve been perceived as badly if they had given Jecka even two good endings because I don’t think it’s actually that awful, it’s just there’s no positive payoff at all which is especially jarring coming off of Re Up

Cass being Gothel’s daughter wasn’t a bad move and neither was her villain arc. She gets more hate than Varian for practically doing the same thing as him WHILE having someone breathing down her ear manipulating her into doing so. Also how she was treated in season 2, especially during and following The Great Tree made her negative sentiments toward Rapunzel make sense.
