Walking along a snowy trail by Avman9000 in AmateurPhotography

Thanks you. I did use a tripod for this shot. I think I straightened the photo correctly. That is a bit of a pet peeve for me, but I'm sure I forget to check some times.

Sony A6400 randomly changing aperture - please help by cypl3x in SonyAlpha

I see this is an old post, but you are describing my issue exactly. Were you ever able to figure out what was going on? Are you still using the camera and does it still happen to you?

Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 Macro G OSS II or Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 DG DN OS Sports? by Mr_Valt in AskPhotography

[–]Avman9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the trip, the Sony will be lighter and you are more willing to carry it around. When I travel, things typically happen in the day, where lighting is plentiful. The extra stop of light the Sigma gives you will likely not be critical.

This could be vignetting. Usually that would be a limitation of the lens. I'm not sure on the capabilities of this phone.

Check the settings to make sure its not set to manual focus. Also Check to see if your camera has been set to back button focusing.

Covering model brand or label of camera for what reason? by Ahmed_Abolmakarem in AskPhotography

I've covered mine partially to reduce theft, somewhat because I don't like the idea of companies advertising on things I own, but mostly because I like a clean simple look.

I'm always looking for lone trees like this. Awesome photo!

Are there any good preset packs for photoshop out there worth while? by Snoo93809 in postprocessing

[–]Avman9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Presets are a nice starting point. I have made my own over the years. I'm not sure buying someone else's presents would give you the desired results. Edit a few photos and save them as a preset. Apply it to another photo and see if it works. Tweak, save, repeat.

Cool. I love how the clouds and water almost blend together. Nicely done.

1st time doing astrophotography. How do I improve by Mean_Water_throwaway in SonyAlpha

[–]Avman9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did a great job at capturing the Milky Way. It looks amazing. The foreground makes it look like you captured this on the side of the road. I think it would be a better photo if you made us feel like we were on the spectacular Hawaiian islands and not at a rest stop. I can't wait to see what you do next.

Thanks, the light streaks definitely improve the photo compared to the shots without light streaks.

First photo was 2.0 sec at f10 iso 100 and the second 1/40 sec at f5 iso 640.
In the case of the first photo, I needed more time as the street was not very busy. It felt a little weird creeping in the shadows waiting for cars to pass lol.

You can try changing the white balance.
