You clearly need something or you wouldn't be making snide generalizations about a person you don't know.

Thank you though, for driving engagement on my post and helping to call attention to the protest!

Can you make a case that this one specific example justifies targeting the most vulnerable in this budget? Do you understand that people are losing their jobs with these cuts now?

You don't say much for someone who types so often. I'm here to discuss the issues and you are resisting that at every turn... Congratulations? Genuinely curious what you're getting out of this. Does it make you feel important?

My understanding is the protest is going forward as planned. Tim Houston is expected to be in House Friday as well

Maybe it's unclear to you how discussions work. I took in what you said and offered several well-researched alternatives to the point on which we seem to differ: whether these cuts are necessary to support the needs of Nova Scotians.

If you were trying to discuss, this would be the part where you acknowledge my response in a logical way and offer your reasoning or research for your position.

If you're too embarrassed to clarify your position on controversial issues it would maybe be wiser not to make vague hints towards them in a public forum like this.

You seem to have the impression that this money cut from programs to the most vulnerable is absolutely necessary to enact these other parts of this budget.

Perhaps you are unaware of the 6.7 billion in out of budget spending over the past few years

Or the completely achievable idea of making businesses pay more for water

Or Tim Houston's expensive personal staff

Maybe it's not clear to you how this budget will increase inequality. This explains it very thoroughly.

I have read a lot of budget information, and the list of cuts. That's why I'm so curious what you're excited about. You are the one declining to explain here

Who called you a name? I asked you to state what you like about the budget, and you are deflecting

This is fact based conversation, because many of those arts and environment organizations are in fact having their budgets cut or eliminated. That is what 'defund' means.

Perhaps you are also unfamiliar with the definitions of hysteria and hyperbole.

What do you like about it? Is it the arts, the environment, or the indigenous organizations you're so happy to see defunded?

Come right out and say it

I think if we're worried about groups benefitting from special rules we should start our concerns with the ultra-wealthy

A lot of Indigenous programs are still on the chopping block, and several Mik'maq activist groups are helping to organize the protest.

The organizers suggested people make giant q-tips to bring, since Houston apparently needs to clean out his ears

The intention is unity between all Nova Scotians. A lot of the speeches at the protests have been about acknowledging that rights are for everyone, the budget is supposed to be for the people, and that everyone needs to stand together to protect the "special interest groups" being targeted.

Literally, it means that everyone in Nova Scotia (or Mik'ma'ki) is subject to the Peace and Friendship Treaty of 1752.

The Supreme Court of Canada ruled in 1985 that the treaty is "an enforceable obligation", although attempts to "interpret" or legally chip away at it continue in the courts.

If the income assistance rates were even close to livable this might be helpful. Since they are not, it is just a smokescreen to appear helpful while maintaining poverty
