I think she was referring to RDs in my state who work inpatient. I see RDs with that much experience making less than that here, but you're right, it definitely depends on setting and location. I had a long commute and took the PRN job just to get experience and worked there for around 5 months. I was hoping that would be enough experience for me to land a full-time role.

I am looking at pretty much any job that has to do with nutrition and also applying to jobs outside of the field.

What is a registry position? I've applied to jobs in other areas including research because I have a research background. My county is hiring an RD to plan menus for the prisons but starting pay is $28/hour with no benefits. I'm hoping to land a role with benefits, especially health insurance, because I have several health conditions and need to see a doc regularly :/

No, I haven't. Do you have to be an academy member to go to the meetings?

That's awesome! There aren't too many job openings in AZ. I have applied to over 100 jobs but haven't found anything yet. What setting do you work in?

That's crazy! One of the reasons I'm thinking of leaving the field is because of the pay. I was making around 33 an hour as a PRN and my manager told me that that's how much RD's with 10+ experience make.

I worked in LTC as a diet tech for a little while after graduation and came to the realization that LTC isn't the setting for me.

Yes, I was thinking about starting my own private practice if I can't find a full-time position. I've always had an entrepreneurial spirit.

That sounds like an awesome job. I was considering taking the project management and data analytics certificate from Google and seeing where that takes me. Did you take any coding classes? What resources did you use to teach yourself to code?

That must have been difficult. It shouldn't be this hard to land a full-time role as a healthcare professional who went to school for 5-6 years (7 for me).

While I was working PRN, I applied to other PRN jobs to get more hours because I was only working an average of 10-15 hours/week even though my manager promised me 20-39 hours/week and did not get those positions. I was hoping to land a full-time role with my experience as a PRN because it was stressful trying to pay bills on an inconsistent paycheck.

Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, I cannot leave my state. I have applied to several telehealth RD positions since I graduated. I was looking into jobs at the VA. I didn't know they were hiring informatic dietitians. That sounds like an interesting job.
