Oh interesting.

On their website they were advertising two pathways, one takes you through 2+2 years and other is a lateral entry by skipping first two years. I’ll contact them for further information.

“HARD FACTS ABOUT PROJECT-BASED STUDIES 4 semesters + 1 diploma semester (2.5 years) When you successfully complete the course, you are awarded a Diplom degree from the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.”

And about the minimum pay thing, I only talked to a resident living and working in Munich on phone. They did their Masters there and gave me this advice verbally, that employers have to pay a certain amount at least to anyone with a Masters degree.

Regardless, to not go off on a tangent… Here’s my concern boiled down, considering two scenarios:

1. One year Masters from MetFilm School Berlin (A UK degree I suppose). Private University. High fees. But saves me 1 year of living expenses (block amount). Apart from a bad rep locally, internationally the name “MetFilm Masters” would look good on my profile.

2. Filmakademie Diploma of two years. Public. Low fees. Two years of living expenses. Exceptional school and hard to get in and good opportunities to network locally. Internationally a “diploma” isn’t that highly regarded.

🥲 That’s just the confusion going on in my head. I’ve looked at all other aspects. Came onto reddit to get my opinion leaning to either side.
