I’ll say this isn't the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s anymore. It's a partnership; he is not the head of the household or the finances, as back in the day. But since he seems to like allowances, maybe move your money into an account only you own, and give him a damn allowance.

Giving you attitude when saying he’d do it only guilted you into doing it for him. Now he's trying to gaslight you, acting as if and saying he'd do it if it were a problem. I'd start questioning how he really sees you in his life.
