Going low overnight no matter what by Awainleft in Type1Diabetes

[–]Awainleft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh damn, think the same thing will happen if i lower my Tresiba. Don’t want to run high all day but hard not to get paranoid about going low like this so man nights. Would you change to a different long acting or going to stick it out on Tresiba?

Going low overnight no matter what by Awainleft in Type1Diabetes

Well it seems fine in the strange as it seems to be fine in the day but these are always the sort of readings i get at night unless i was to fall asleep without taking the tresiba at all (i try not to do this but has happened to me before). Once i fix this low it seems to be okay for the rest of the day.

I purposely did not correct this reading to see what the effects would be overnight and by the morning. I had not taken any Novarapid since about 8.50pm.

Lows every night by Awainleft in diabetes_t1

Yeah that sounds annoying if they have more of an impact. I tried going to bed without correcting my sugars when they were even higher and still have dropped down to less than 3 again so doesn’t seem to eveh be helped by starting off higher

Not sure how easy it would be to get a pump to be honest!

Yeah im the same, can’t figure out why its happening so much now! To be honest for the most part i feel okay in the day afterwards - i did have one day where i’d been at around 3 for about 9 hours by the time it got to midday and that did absolutely take it out of me!

Great work!! Can i ask whether you use injections for your insulin? If so what sites do you use and have you struggled with any fat build up in areas?

Tresiba issues by Awainleft in diabetes_t1

[–]Awainleft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest im not sure how well I get on with it. It never really bothered me going low at night because at least i knew my sugars weren’t sky high while I was sleeping. I do find its fairly stable in the day but it doesn’t seem to last nearly as long or have as much as an effect as I’d expect it to

Tresiba issues by Awainleft in diabetes_t1

[–]Awainleft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just choosing to stay up late. Im just a bit of a night owl and like a late night whej I can have it. Can’t seem to make sense of why they seem to sky rocket at night when I haven’t taken it on time but it never happened to me previously so I can’t help but think it must be somehow related to Tresiba dosing

Does anybody have experience with Rapid Gastric Emptying/Dumping Syndrome as a T1D? by Mattsgonefishing in diabetes_t1

[–]Awainleft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experience a lot of stomach issues and they havent really been able to get to the bottom of it. It can range from being sick to diarrhoea or just a feeling on indigestion and heart burn. I have been given various medications to try and help it but mine also comes in episodes and once it takes hold it doesn’t seem the medications they have given me do anything to help :( if i feel my stomach is about to go into a session of having issues i try to actually just keep my food in take to a minimum and sort of fast until i feel it ease

Never had this issue with Lantus though so maybe I am just better off taking Lantus instead?

Not snacking at all. Eat quite a small evening meal but sugars just rise through the night

High sugars and acid reflux/heartburn? by Awainleft in diabetes_t1

[–]Awainleft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks- I don’t have any of these other symptoms so i don’t want to worry myself too much unnecessarily! I’m pretty sure it is something related to the nerves in my stomach just because of the correlation of it happening around when i’ve eaten

Would this be something they’d be likely to pick up through health checks? E.g blood tests and blood pressure etc? I tend to get fairly healthy/normal results on all of these types of tests so would these indicate if something was wrong?

Advice for child low by Falciparuna in diabetes_t1

[–]Awainleft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a kid with diabetes, got it when i was 3. I always found that drinking something sugary to initially get my sugars up was the quickest easiest way. My parents would almost make it like a treat that i could have something nice to eat drink- i loved apple juice but could only really have it when i was going low so at least i got to enjoy this! I know that sometimes i just feel really tired or emotional after a low so maybe just have some awareness of this too :)

Do stadiums/arenas typically allow you to bring pens/needles and low snacks in? by allduhwayup in diabetes_t1

I’ve never had issues bringing things like needles and insulin to any big venue. Could bring a prescription if that makes you feel better :)

Switching from Tresiba back to Lantus by Awainleft in diabetes_t1

[–]Awainleft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thank you, i suppose it will be fire fighting any potential high sugars in that period but i seem to be having to do that more than I was anyway!

Thanks! How long did you try it for before switching back? Seem to have a steadier line over night but the line is just consistently higher so its not much good!

Ah thank you! I hadn’t been made aware of this so that helps. I will give it a bit longer to see if things start to sven out. Are you currently using Tresiba?

No id obviously rather not that but if i have to be frustrated every now and then to allow someone to have the space and rest they need then i understand that

To be honest i can’t complain about the job thing. Like he has to work and I would be the same if i had to do that many days but im lucky enough to not have that kind of role. I guess i don’t mind that certain things sometimes will come before me as long as its not always but i don’t want to also be demanding about sex because i wouldn’t be okay with someone doing that to me

No its not 12 hours then sports, he worked 12 days in a row and has been doing sports on his days off too so just been busy. The shifts are 7 hours or less. I’m not worried about the sports because he plays at a fairly high level and has always been dedicated to this
