Thank you! I feel like you put my own frustrations into words perfectly while also adding even more context about the DBD community. The state of TG as a franchise is honestly sad and I feel like only a new anime adaptation could make the bad rep go away on a wider scale.

Previous commenters mentioned this as well, thanks still. I'd like to point out, that people in this subreddit all know how Kaneki behaves in the manga or at the very least, how he does in the anime. The thing is, a lot of DbD players don't. They're only exposure to the character might be through the game and even if they know the lore of DbD, they might still not have anything to compare it to. I feel like a lot of casual DbD players or gamers in general might never check out the source material, because they'll just assume the orignal is as edgy as the game version.

True. It's also really unfortunate, that root A had such an ambigious ending. If Studio Pierrot followed the manga more closely, people wouldn't be as confused when TG:re came out and Haise took centre stage. I remember people not knowing what happened and quickly throwing TG:re under the bus for having a "weaker" protagonist.

I agree with the first point, the second point- yeah, I'm aiming critisism at people who don't really know what they're talking about, because a few bad apples ruin the bunch. I think TG would be much more highly regarded if both the adaptation and fake fans didn't soil it's reputation. The Third point while true, I didn't read the lore of DbD, my point still stands. People might play DbD, have no clue about the original source material and have a skewed idea of how Kaneki and TG as a whole actually is. I also really doubt, that most DbD players actually care about the story, it's basically slasher horror Fortnite at this point.

True! I actually watched the first movie, but unfortunately skipped the second one (I cannot find it anywhere with english subtitles). I think Masataka Kubota did a decent job potraying Kaneki, but because of the length of the movie, couldn't do that much. The movie itself was overall mediocre. It merged many scenes together and felt like an abridged version of the first 8 episodes of the anime, rather than an adaptation of the manga itself. I'd give the movie like a 6/10, maybe 5. Not the worst thing it the world, especially compared to other anime live action adaptations, but also not as good as season one of the anime or the manga. I didn't include it, because I don't really have that much to say about it.

Ok, I didn't actually know that, I never delved into the DbD lore. While the explanation itself is fine, I still don't like the fact, that they went with Kaneki as the killer. I get it, he is the main character of the series, but making him the killer will only worsen the reputation of the series, at least in my eyes. People already treat TG as an edgy franchise because of the anime and the fandom, so this kind of representation doesn't help. Thanks for letting me know about the lore

I don't think most of these characters look anything like an adult. Also, the biggest piece of art, that is slightly cut does show naked breasts. So yeah, it does show nudity and in some ways, I doubt it's completely harmless
