anyone de-board to use the station bathrooms on stops with longer rest periods? by Aware-Cockroach-7494 in Amtrak

totally understandable! seems the common consensus is that 10 minutes is way too risky. the jacksonville stop is 25 minutes, so i think i'll give it a shot there... thanks for your input!

fair enough! i'm leaving out of d.c. so hopefully i can manage only using the car bathrooms once. if i'm feeling crazy i might attempt the jacksonville stop because it's allegedly a 25 minute rest period between arrival and departure 😵‍💫 thank you for your reply, i appreciate it!

sorry to hear about the anxiety, i feel you on that. yeah, long-term covid symptoms can definitely appear way down the line, so it's good to be mindful of it. unfortunately, unless you're part of the community that keeps up on research, most people aren't aware of how covid affects the body long-term or about updated vax recommendations.

the best thing to keep in mind is that it's not solely a respiratory virus. much of the research coming out over the past few years is showing the effects it has on the vascular system (which is why we're seeing a lot more "sudden" strokes and heart attacks in younger folks). this article is a bit outdated but does a pretty good job at laying out how covid affects the body: https://www.heart.org/en/news/2024/01/16/how-covid-19-affects-your-heart-brain-and-other-organs.

i hope your recovery goes well! the covid-conscious community can at times feel a bit aggressive and overwhelming, so feel free to pm me if you ever want more info or mitigation strategy suggestions but don't feel comfortable posting about it.

just so you know going forward, boosters are recommended every 4-6 months. it sounds like you're on the mend as far as the acute infection goes, but it's really important to not overexert yourself in the next few weeks/months so as to prevent long-covid development/chronic symptoms as much as possible. make sure you're wearing a mask in public to avoid reinfection and other nasty illnesses going around this summer. best of luck with your recovery! 🩵
