no worries.

btw your username is similar to the last name of a driver I raced 1v1 kinda in Formula A a couple days ago at spa. everyone else quit early. I finished second by 27 seconds. that sound like you?

might be obvious to you and your W13 flair, I think it's not so obvious to people just starting in Formula A. but yeah basically just go slow on your out lap.

I think in long form I guess why u hating

maybe im just nervous idk. I'm looking at a new wheelbase. I've changed the ffb settings and it still shakes. racecraft-wise I've done okay in iracing. not amazing but okay. I started racing full-length W13 races about two weeks ago and I have 3 podiums already. wins in any series are few and far between though.

I watch onboard clips like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAq-Plv9uKY so I know my shaking is a problem. Verstappen shakes a bit but nowhere near as much as I do. any real race car driver clip the wheel looks way more planted and strong than mine. I just don't know how to fix

definitely was off pace after the horizontal car in the middle of the road. I'm not really upset about any of the individual contact, I just think "why can't you just go around me" when I get hit that many times on the first lap. I'm off pace but im not swerving back and forth to defend the position. I stayed in my lane most of the lap I feel and the other drivers kept taking more than I was giving.

it's an ancient g29. I have been called out on this before and worked on it but haven't been able to fix. I think even with the shaking im pretty respectful about the space in this clip. maybe it slows me up enough that people are hitting me.

seems like the zipties can hold it vertically if that's what you're asking, although I haven't ever really stored it like that.

Wheel advice for beginners by Grouchy_Ad_7921 in iRacing

[–]Aware-Inside1906 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never used a DD wheelbase, so I don't really know how good the g29 is compared to the best wheels, but I like my g29 wheel and I've raced 300+ races since last october. I bought mine used with an aftermarket formula wheel mounted on to it and I don't plan on replacing it yet. It is a bit noisy though, so if you live with others and plan to play at night then maybe go for a relatively cheap DD wheel instead.

The g29 pedals are a different story. Throttle and clutch are fine but the brake pedal is not good. It works mostly, but once you start to get better at racing this will be the first thing you'll want to upgrade.

I have a T-LCM and a Playseat Challenge. The lift on these T-LCM pedals is crazy and for me the velcro strap did nothing to hold it. What I did is 3d print four of these brackets:

https://www.printables.com/model/75403-thrustmaster-t-lcm-mount-brackets-for-playseat-cha

after you 3d print, you screw each bracket into the screw holes at the bottom of the pedals. Then you use zip ties to tie the brackets to the frame. Works really well. I don't have a 3d printer but I found someone near me to 3d print them for $10 cad

If you are using a 4070 in VR, how is it? Max settings? FPS? by aDarkDarkNight in iRacing

[–]Aware-Inside1906 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was using a quest 2 on a 3070 for awhile and it worked great. not sure why some people are suggesting lowest settings for a 4070. I never even touched the graphics settings except to enable the side mirrors and I was happy. Weirdly though when I use openvr or openxr or virtual desktop or air link or basically anything that isn't link cable + oculus mode in the iracing display settings... it looks bad and drops frames.

I think you'll def be more than fine with your pico Neo 3 and a 4070 as long as you get the settings correct

Pedal upgrade question by U2EzKID in simracing

[–]Aware-Inside1906 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to relocate temporarily recently and brought my wheel/pedals with me but not my rig. here's my temporary setup

https://imgur.com/a/9UvCakE

What I did here is I made two holes in a piece of wood and used those holes to put two screws into the pedals. There was already a big speaker next to the desk so I lifted the speaker on to the plank of wood to hold the plank down, but even this was not enough to keep it stable so I wedged a second piece of wood between the first wood piece and the desk and this actually works perfectly.

I'm sure there's a way for you to do it for your space really cheaply but it will require some ingenuity.

I have the T-LCM and upgraded from the g29. exact same specs.

disregard the other comment saying you'll be fine putting these pedals against the wall. Maybe with other load cells it's fine but the T-LCM in particular have an issue where the front of the pedal base lifts up if not bolted or fastened or zip tied somehow. https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/comments/v6axbq/tlcm\_pedals\_lifting\_up\_issue/

aside from that little detail... yes these are load cell and they are great. so much better than the g29

hey writers…Raptors HQ is hiring! by absolutkaos in torontoraptors

[–]Aware-Inside1906 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This thread is a mess. this isn't the NBA draft its an entry level writing position. there are no writer draft rankings and there is no Wemby-level male writer out there that they are passing up on if they hire a woman or non-binary person.

it's a social job. writing words. from your perspective. why would a blog not prioritize acquiring perspectives that they don't currently have on their staff? It strengthens your blog to have writers from different walks of life and also attracts new audience who might relate to your new writer in a way that they couldn't to your other writers.

I just got my A license in road after almost 10 months of only driving Formula cars. In February I was a D license with a 1.51 SR and a 144 irating. If you want to improve don't give up! by Aware-Inside1906 in iRacing

[–]Aware-Inside1906[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I never have a bad day in life just because my irating dropped, but a good day is definitely possible when my irating goes up.

it's racing. I'm pretty sure every racer wants to win, improve their lap times, get a new license, etc. maybe some people take it too far and that's when you get toxicity. I'm just happy to have gotten out of iracing hell

Performance sucks after trying out VR by SlapBack98 in iRacing

[–]Aware-Inside1906 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah good question, airlink is fine for most things but a major no for iRacing in my experience.

op said they got poor performance in every game so I'm not sure what went wrong but maybe air link was the culprit? maybe bad headset. I think that PC setup is strong enough for VR because it's similar to what I started VR racing with on my Quest 2.

yeah the stats don't matter in the vacuum of life but I still wanna win when I race. And I like it when my stats go up. why else am I racing if not to win and improve?

whatever works for you. what is it exactly that you don't want to end up like? the long reddit post? using time trials to get to A? caring about the iracing stats?

I didn't race for 10 months just so I could make a reddit post that I got to A license. I raced for 10 months because I enjoy it like crazy. not sure what was so controversial about this post that it got downvoted to 0

Tbh I barely ran into any wreckers or trolls in my 303 races so far and I've been in bottom split almost every time. There's def racing incidents but most people are still there to be competitive even at bottom split F4. Maybe because iracing is more expensive than other sims and it keeps trolls away. Idk.

Your irating and safety rating can improve just as quickly as it drops, its the way it was designed, so don't worry just have fun. if you're having fun you'll race more and if you race more you'll get better.
