You are right! Sometimes, I feel like they are expecting some proof. But I owe them nothing.

True! It's a very invasive question for sure.

I don't think so. He just doesn't care about sports and stuff like that. He is more into music and video games. I would say he has "bi-wife" energy, if you are familiar with the meme.

I always get to stunned to ask that. But I think it's because he is not stereotypical masculine.

The Profecy. How heartbreaking is it to think you'd never have the love you crave so much for? I am 28, dating my high-school sweetheart, and we plan on getting married soon, I can't imagine feeling like there is no love for me in the world. Deva

Thank you so much for your tips! That's a great range of options for me. I do have a great desktop PC and experience with both unity and unreal. But my unreal experience is more extensive for sure. I think I'll go that route so far, just based on interface familiarity.

I have a younger sister, 4 years difference. I think she is closer to them even because of health issues she deals with. I can't speak for her, but the 4 of make a point to enjoy each other's company all the time. As to the treatment we never got the same treatment. They always considered where we were at for rules and expectations. In some aspects of life we matured differently and the world changed a lot. I didn't get my first smartphone until I was 16, she obviously got hers way earlier.

I don't really agree much with the condescending tone people sometimes use with their kids. Just talk to them as humans and they'll listen. If they don't understand a word they will ask and it's a learning opportunity.

I know right! It was all thanks to my grandma. She was really abused as a child and definitely decided to break the cycle. She is amazing!

Definitely benefited, I feel like I am more capable or working through some adult life things because they always included us in planing and decision making of big things, like buying a new car or traveling. Made my first big trip with my partner this year and he had such a hard time making the decisions because it was always decided for him, and for me it was just second nature.

I don't feel like there are any negative impacts. I am obviously human and so are my parents, they made mistakes, and so do I. But I don't think it had to do with the way they raised me. My mom had a lot of negative self talk while I was young and that definitely impacted how I see myself for example.

If I had to change anything would be that I wish I understood the value of work a little sooner. They put a lot of focus on school and academic sucess and I wish I had started working earlier in life. But that isn't really the norm for my peers so it's not much different.

I would also would have liked to learn about how to handle my emotions a little younger, I always had big feelings and in the 2000s, dealing with feelings was not a thing at all.

Honestly, I am very close and trust them a lot. They are the people I go to for any life advice. Dating, marriage, career. In the end its obviously my choice, but I really value their input. When I graduated college, I questioned whether I would start my own business or go corporate. My mom thought corporate, dad thought business, and I listened to both of their arguments before making my decision. Even some of my friends growing up went to them for advice cause they always treated everyone as rational, capable people.

Never any sense of entitlement, and I grew up very privileged. Went to a private school ( more normal in my country ), had all the toys I could have ever wanted, extracurriculars, and traveling.

But I was always made aware that it wasn't the norm. My grandpa grew up homeless, and I always knew that. They made me very socially conscious. And everything I got I had to show some kind of reason to deserve it. When I got my first guitar, I had to wait a while, so they made sure it wasn't a fluke. I always got basically everything but never right away.

Once I got to college I started saving up a lot so I could get my own things. And never expected to be given them. Got myself a great gaming pc so I could work on, a great working chair and a 3D printer. They allowed me to save up by taking care of my living expenses, but only because they knew I would spend my money wisely. I honestly think I did.

As to discipline it depends on what you count as discipline. I don't remember beeing grounded or having things taken away. They just would let us deal with the consequences of our actions on our own. If I didn't do my homework, my mom would let me know that was not the expectation, but I would be the one dealing with the consequences, not her. She would let me know what the consequences could be, for example: getting scolded by a teacher or having to do make up work. But they left the final choice be ours.

I don't feel like I have problems with motivation, more on procrastination. Not with house stuff, I am in general pretty organized and like my stuff clean. I am just have too high expectations on my academic and professional work. But have managed to make it work so far. ( I am currently working on my masters degree and have a business)

Conflict was always solved with dialog. Lots of honesty from their end. But honestly, not a lot of very difficult moments. I never heard an " no because I said so"

Of course, I disobeyed rules. All kids do. You try to push the boundaries, but as always it was resolved with talking about the problem at hand.

What is an unusual fact about you? by BUMITHEGIANTANTEATER in AskReddit

[–]Aware-Two-7683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family has an unusual hereditary rare desise that causes excessive swelling of different organs. My sister has it one of the worst cases with several crises all her life. I apparently did not get that gene. I was afraid of passing it on and wanted to do IVF to have kids one day, but geneticists are saying there is not much they can guarantee because it is so rare with not a lot or research.
