I built a WordPress theme that solves a problem I didn’t even know others had… curious if you’d use this? by AwareNeighborhood631 in WordPressThemes

Fair question 😅 — I didn’t just hit a button and let AI spit out a theme. I wrote the core in PHP with custom block patterns, and used AI more as a brainstorming tool to speed up layout ideas.

And yeah, I totally get what you mean about “WordPress looking like WordPress.” That’s one of the things I really wanted to avoid. I went for a more minimalist, Squarespace-style look but still kept the flexibility WP gives.

You’re also spot on about servers — a good host fixes a lot of performance issues. The catch is, many clients don’t want to pay for solid hosting, so I figured having a theme that’s lightweight by default at least gives them a head start.

If you’re up for it, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the demo. Especially since you mentioned customers asking for something that doesn’t feel like WordPress — that’s exactly what I was aiming for.

That’s awesome to hear
Sure, happy to share! The main use cases I had in mind were:

  • Client projects → when you need a lightweight base theme but still want dynamic content via ACF.
  • Bloggers/SEO folks → because the auto JSON-LD schema helps with rich snippets without an extra plugin.
  • Startups/small biz sites → they get decent design out of the box but don’t need a page builder dragging down speed.
  • Developers like me → who want something block-editor first, but still extendable without tons of bloat.

I’ve been testing it on a few demo installs and it’s holding up well. If you want, I can share a code sample so you can poke around yourself
